Story
Quinn has just survived yet another bloody run-in with the murderous clown Frendo, but somehow still she knows this won’t be the last. Tired of being hunted and seeing innocent people hurt, Quinn believes the only way to beat the horror is to take justice into her own hands—and stop the Frendo followers herself. Little does she know that this path will take her across cornfields and state lines, to where she will have to face the most dangerous and bloody menace yet: True believers.

It was ok.

I’ve listened to the previous two books and they had their good moments but something about this one just didn’t really click with me. All of the adults sounded like they had slurred speech or shrieked and it just kind of took me out of the story.

Johnnie Rico never really intended to join up—and definitely not the infantry. But now that he’s in the thick of it, trying to get through combat training harder than anything he could have imagined, he knows everyone in his unit is one bad move away from buying the farm in the interstellar war the Terran Federation is waging against the Arachnids. Because everyone in the Mobile Infantry fights. And if the training doesn’t kill you, the Bugs are more than ready to finish the job.

I thought we would never get this version with R.C. Bray as narrator but I was surprised to see it was finally available. While there is not much in way of combat scenes, this book does a great job of explaining why these troopers fight and gives a little insight into the aliens they fight as well. First time listening to this book and I really liked it!

Now, inspired by the fictional haunting that brought them together, the friends and former co-stars are examining real-life stories of demonic possession, tracing the phenomenon from its earliest known accounts to its modern-day headlines.

Pretty vague
Reviewed: 09-30-24
The whole time they’re talking to guests or recapping the movies it’s all just very vague and they seem to use a lot of the same descriptions after every interview. Nothing really scary or spooky going on here. If you’re a huge fan of Paranormal Activity you may enjoy this but I just couldn’t get in to it.

Story
All Systems Red is the tense first science fiction adventure novella in Martha Wells' series The Murderbot Diaries. For fans of Westworld, Ex Machina, Ann Leckie's Imperial Raadch series, or Iain M. Banks' Culture novels. The main character is a deadly security droid that has bucked its restrictive programming and is balanced between contemplative self-discovery and an idle instinct to kill all humans.

The world has changed. Now, when someone is murdered, they almost always come back to life—and there are professionals, called “dispatchers”, who kill in order to save lives, to give those near the end a second chance. Tony Valdez is a dispatcher, and he has never been busier. But for as much as the world has changed, some things have stayed the same. Greed, corruption, and avarice are still in full swing.

I discovered John Scalzi’s Dispatcher series two years ago and have been eagerly awaiting each new story. Zachary Quinto does an amazing job of narrating and his voice just seems to fit how I imagine Tony. Scalzi’s writing and humor have made me laugh out loud more times than I can count and this bill was no different. Even though these books have a shorter run time than most science fiction books, Scalzi has a way of delivering an exciting story and wrapping it up nicely. Highly recommend to anyone wanting a new series to listen to!
