Publisher's summary

You may know Katie Featherston and Micah Sloat from Paranormal Activity, the 2007 found-footage horror film that launched a blockbuster franchise. Now, inspired by the fictional haunting that brought them together, the friends and former co-stars are examining real-life stories of demonic possession, tracing the phenomenon from its earliest known accounts to its modern-day headlines.

With help from noted experts in witchcraft, shamanism, exorcism, and parapsychology, Katie and Micah explore chilling cases throughout history and across cultures, challenging our understanding of the world—or worlds—around us.

About the Creator and Host

Katie Featherston is best known for playing the lead role in Paramount's 2009 smash hit Paranormal Activity, which earned her the Best Actress award at the 2009 Screamfest Film Festival, and has been ranked among many critics' lists of the "Best Horror Movies" ever made.
Featherston has also appeared in many of the subsequent sequels, and was brought on to appear in multiple episodes of ABC's The River produced by Steven Spielberg. She can also be seen in the short films Solace for the Unloved and Becoming, both of which she co-directed, as well as in season 2 of HBO’s Big Little Lies.

About the Creator and Host

Micah Sloat is best known for his breakout role in the 2009 surprise smash Paranormal Activity. His performance earned him a Teen Choice Award nomination for Best Horror Film Actor, and he reprised his role in several Paranormal Activity sequels.
Sloat’s interest in the paranormal extends far beyond the screen. He has a broad background in many spiritual traditions, with a focus on Peruvian shamanism, British Traditional Witchcraft, and Hawaiian shamanism. By combining these practices with his undergraduate studies in philosophy and his master’s degree in Transpersonal Psychology, he’s developed his own transformational practice for healing, change, and manifestation called Spirit Work.

Great stories, great hosts!

Really great to hear these actors together again! I will say that Mikah learned nothing from his deadly ego and curiosity in the movie, lol.
It’s funny, as someone who’s studied Demons for years, I often point to P.N. one as one of the best movies illustrating a timeline of possession (minus the ending).
In any case, it was great to hear from so many different viewpoints. But at the end of the day, just say no to messing with the Paranormal. It’s cocky as HELL to think that we monkeys have any way to protect ourselves while doing it.

could be better

very shallow and not really that interesting if you're not brand new to the supernatural

Fun for fans of the franchise!

As a long time fan of the PA franchise, this show scratches the itch until the next movie installment comes!

This show is wild

wow… the stories and accounts this show covers are pretty intense. The heavy sound design scenes of the recreations of the possessions were especially freaky. And as the chapters go by the stories they cover get more and more intense. It’s a pretty eye-opening experience realizing that there’s a lot of dark stuff in the world of the paranormal, and I agree with one of the other reviewers who said we humans really shouldn’t mess with this stuff.

This was a great (mindless) series that entertained and informed! I wish it were longer and hope it continues for another season!!!

It has good stories

Wish there were more stories and a little longer and I like how they had experts on each story

They love everything

Paranormal Activity was a scary movie. This podcast/audio book was sold as exciting and spooky. It isn't. It feels like a Hollywood resume builder. It does not cover new ground. It does not offer anything other than movie clip recaps with long winded pseudo-intellectual talk. It is a strong throwback to post WWI Spiritualism. If you like that, wonderful. It's tired in a field that has been tired for a long time. I'm listening now. They're watching a movie. "demon-y eyes" was just used as a descriptor. Skip this commercial

BORED TO DEATH...

Sorry, but I have to give this a lousy rating, because I feel highly misled by the title. I didn't expect a series of class lectures. The title mentions True Tales, not "Stars" and experts listening to themselves think out loud. Waste of time.

GRADE: C-
On a Generous Curve (really deserves an F).

Ridiculously simplistic and boring

Things that went through my head while trying to listen to this podcast -- wow these two are taking themselves very seriously; lame, lame, lame ..... the "re-enactments" were hilariously bad ..... there is very little actual information here. Please don't waste your time on this.

Not what I expected.

I honestly do know what I was expecting, but not this. The premise is more like a podcast. The two hosts will invite someone in to talk about their field of expertise, they will all watch a video clip and then explain what is on the video. I didn't care for the format.
