When Rosie and Penn and their four boys welcome the newest member of their family, no one is surprised it's another baby boy. At least their large, loving, chaotic family knows what to expect. But Claude is not like his brothers. One day he puts on a dress and refuses to take it off. He wants to bring a purse to kindergarten. He wants hair long enough to sit on. When he grows up, Claude says, he wants to be a girl.

Amazing heart wrenching and heart warming story
Reviewed: 03-05-20
Amazing heart wrenching and heart warming story about a loving supporting family that has to figure out how to protect, help and support their youngest member who doesn't quite fit into the normal box. How do you raise a child that i has a very different path ahead than anything you have ever been prepared for? Is love enough? Is the easiest way the way best way?
A wonderful story that rings very true and all parents and caregivers of children should read (or listen to).
Very well performed and wonderfully written.

Simon Snow is the worst Chosen One who's ever been chosen. That's what his roommate, Baz, says. And Baz might be evil and a vampire and a complete git, but he's probably right. Half the time, Simon can't even make his wand work, and the other half, he starts something on fire. His mentor's avoiding him, his girlfriend broke up with him, and there's a magic-eating monster running around, wearing Simon's face.

I love this!
This story takes all that I love and all that I have a problem with about Harry Potter and turns it upside down in an exciting, humorous and sweet way.
Very well done!

Nothing good ever comes from drinking a box of wine alone. So when I decided to entertain my drunken self by setting up some hand-me-down podcasting equipment and reading the steamy parts from romance novels, I never thought anyone would actually listen. The fact that I admitted my huge crush on my sexy next door neighbor made the whole thing even more mortifying. But sometimes life surprises you, and that’s how my podcast, Heidi’s Discount Erotica, was born. Now I, Heidi Larsen, a sweet former kindergarten teacher in Waconia, Minnesota, lead a scandalous double life.

As a big time Dresden Files fan these were pointed out for me.
Have to say that I still like Dresden better but this is very good.
I get kind of a Harry Dresden vibe but less introverted autistic like hero. Interesting differences and very good.
Will be reading this series for sure.

I have stolen princesses back from sleeping barrow kings. I burned down the town of Trebon. I have spent the night with Felurian and left with both my sanity and my life. I was expelled from the University at a younger age than most people are allowed in. I tread paths by moonlight that others fear to speak of during day. I have talked to Gods, loved women, and written songs that make the minstrels weep. My name is Kvothe. You may have heard of me.

A whole new world
Reviewed: 02-06-19
Patrick Rothfuss is a genius and has created a whole new world filled with new and old myths and religion. The protagonist is a very clever young boy who deals with hardships and struggles in a way that deserves high admiration. He makes friends and foes and is so wonderfully imperfect even though he is incredibly smart and talented in so many ways.
We get to hear the story told by himself as a grown man who has obviously had something bad happen and is in hiding. At the same time we get bits and pieces of legendry stories about him told by men at the tavern who have no idea that the legend they are discussing is the innkeeper who just served them their meal.
I am in love with this story and the wonderful imperfect people living within it. There are lots of secrets and hints and I can't wait to hear more.
I gave the performance only 4 stars but that is not because the reader isn't good, its mainly because he pronounced the names differently from what I have heard the author do. Especially my favorite character Auri. Other vice it was very good.

Story
Deep below the University, there is a dark place. Few people know of it: a broken web of ancient passageways and abandoned rooms. A young woman lives there, tucked among the sprawling tunnels of the Underthing, snug in the heart of this forgotten place. Her name is Auri, and she is full of mysteries. The Slow Regard of Silent Things is a brief, bittersweet glimpse of Auri’s life, a small adventure all her own. At once joyous and haunting, this story offers a chance to see the world through Auri’s eyes.

Love Auri and love this series and after listening to Patrick Rothfuss reading it and his foreword and his thoughts on the story at the end I might be a little bit in love with him as a person as well...
Patrick my sweet man, yes I do believe we are all a bit broken searching for the pieces that make us whole. That's why I think most of us really love Auri.
As a broken person myself and a mother to a few children, both broken and not yet broken (hoping they will stay that way as long as possible), children that have had an easy life and foster children that have had some really bad things happen in their lives, I am a big fan of broken people and broken things.
I love the Japanese art of Kintsukuroi, repairing broken pottery with silver or gold and recognise that it is more beautiful for having been broken.
Now I am in a bit of a hurry to get your next book. I need to know more!

In my opinion this should be a mandatory read for all parents and all who work with kids.
