More motivational than I expected

The author gave some great examples of what many notable artists did and suggestions on how to apply their practices into the readers routine. I like the fact that the book delivered on the title, everything the author suggested and shared was delivered in a way for the reader to try themselves. Not just listen to and think about. Actually exercises for anyone to apply to their artistic pursuits. Delightful light read.

Story
Neil Gaiman has long been inspired by ancient mythology in creating the fantastical realms of his fiction. Now he turns his attention back to the source, presenting a bravura rendition of the great northern tales. In Norse Mythology, Gaiman fashions primeval stories into a novelistic arc that begins with the genesis of the legendary nine worlds; delves into the exploits of the deities, dwarves, and giants; and culminates in Ragnarok, the twilight of the gods and the rebirth of a new time and people.

Gaiman really dives into introducing the reading into the world of Norse mythology through a collection of stories that helps the reader understand why these stories are so meaningful, and still inspiring people all over the world even to thos day.

Reviewed: 11-01-22
Not completely what I was expecting. It wasn't fluffy and didn't hold any punches about Common's feelings about himself or those closest to him. And I like that. Although the story is more interesting and captivating than the delivery. It took me a while to finish only because the performance is not something to be bragged about. Reacd it. Learn from it. And my suggestion is buy the printed version so you can read it in your voice and pace.

Very good real world examples and applications of the concepts expressed. I only wish the information would have been presented in a more entertaining way in order retain the listeners attention consistently. I believe this book's information is best presented in print because it needs diagrams, illustrations, and process flows to present the concepts.

In the early 1990s, Demetrius "Big Meech" Flenory and his brother, Terry "Southwest T", rose up from the slums of Detroit to build one of the largest cocaine empires in American history: the Black Mafia Family. They socialized with music mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs, did business with New York's king of bling Jacob "The Jeweler" Arabo, and built allegiances with rap superstars Young Jeezy and Fabolous. Yet even as BMF was attracting celebrity attention, its crew members struck fear in a city.

As with most of these advice and sales and marketing tip books there are a lot of hypothetical situations and examples of how to address certain situations in conversations. But one of the things I enjoyed about this read was that the hypotheticals were very realistic and gave you a real confidence boost in how to handle the real hurdles of sales conversations.

Solid insight into the changed world of business

Grow or die were the words told to me by the first billionaire that I met. This book takes the reader through a number of real world examples of how an organization leader can create an environment of continuous growth through membership models and cultures. Although not much to the "story" as should be expected, the focal point is on how to apply the strategies and learn from examples provided. I enjoyed this book because it challenged you to really listen and connect how your current organization could test some of the opportunities without having to follow a very linear path.

Story
With his now-legendary store on 125th Street in Harlem, Dapper Dan pioneered high-end streetwear in the 1980s, remixing classic luxury-brand logos into his own innovative, glamorous designs. But before he reinvented haute couture, he was a hungry boy with holes in his shoes, a teen who daringly gambled drug dealers out of their money, and a young man in a prison cell who found nourishment in books. In this remarkable memoir, he tells his full story for the first time.

He feel anger you for you feel pain you feel joy you laugh all the time because some of the stories are just too crazy to be true not to mention the many notable names that Dan has encountered helped and actually been hurt by in one way or another. At the very least what you can say Dan has lived a full life and his story has many more chapters for both he and us to learn from. I highly recommend this book.

Story
What if the smartest people in the world understand something that the rest of us don't? (They do.) What if they know that in order to achieve success, they will sometimes have to do things that others may initially perceive as stupid? The fact of the matter is that the smartest people in the world don't run from stupid, they lean into it (in a smart way). In The Power of Starting Something Stupid, Richie Norton redefines stupid as we know it, demonstrating that life-changing ideas are often tragically mislabeled stupid.

Keyword, not thoughts, but actions. Great read and the concepts can be applied ASAP and easily, you just have to act without letting fear control your actions, or lack thereof.
