Never expected to love this story but…

I’m not a fan of mainstream, pop culture, Romance, however, when I knew that Haley Atwell was the narrator, I couldn’t resist this story. Oh joy, how pleased I am for having made this choice, because while the story is rich and full of intriguing, deep at times, characters, The narrator makes the otherwise very surface, sappy, storyline, desirable, and worthwhile.
I promise you, if you consider yourself a critic of good narrated literature, do not pass up this book. Haley Atwell makes every single character shine.

Story
Compiled by intrepid journalist Neve Pride, this archive of recordings spans the months after dragons emerged on earth, chronicling the communities that sprang up amid the destruction, the scientists, military leaders, and experts searching for a defense, and those steadfastly seeking the missing. Neve and her young daughter Bex travel among the wreckage speaking to those left behind and surviving, against all odds. Neve records everything for history, and in the hopes of locating a clue as to where the dragons came from and how one might stop them.

Who New? Dragons & Life
Reviewed: 04-05-25
I’m not typically a fantasy follower, but I love Haley Atwell, and the remaining cast did such a fabulous job on this crazy story about dragons that I couldn’t stop listening. It had so many metaphors and undercurrent of where we are in our present day reality that I think anyone who is a fan of Intrigue and human in stories will actually really love this one.

I really, really wanted this to be legitimate. CeCe is someone that in Arizona everyone has known about and I wanted to find out if in fact, Ronan could be an unbiased reporter. It’s impossible, knowing that his mother Mia Farrow is OK let’s be honest kinda’ loopy, and well there’s the Woody Allen story… the Progressives just can’t be unbiased and I was super disappointed to discover this writer spent wayyyyyy too much editorial time on the ‘conspiracy theories.’ If you’re Woke you’ll love this but if you’re someone who thinks independently of any political or cultural biases you’ll agree this is fluff project for a Hollywood dandy.

This would have been a better book if it hasn’t bounced all over the place.

I was convinced that the fact that one of my favorite actresses and narrators was a part of this story would entertain from chapter 1 to the end, but that was not the case. I actually couldn’t finish the book. It is clever in concept, but poorly written in so much as the characters, the narrative, The storyline bounces so much that I was dizzy just trying to figure out what was happening from chapter to chapter. I would like to recommend it, but I really can’t.

Story
London. A city drowning in fog. Amid that fog, a man with no name dies above a strange junkshop. Threads of mist and intrigue weave around a court case with no resolution, linking great country houses with the lowest slum in the city, mingling the high-born with a boy who sweeps the filthy streets, enshrouding devious plots and sudden murder, bringing together two extraordinary women – Lady Dedlock and Esther Summerson - who seem to have nothing whatsoever in common but who will find themselves inextricably linked.

Decent Story - Weak Ending
Reviewed: 11-15-24
Well, I was a bit apprehensive to download the story, I was pleasantly surprised that the narration was really excellent, storyline, weak, but entertaining, but as you progress through the book, it gets sadder, and sadder, not emotionally, but in poor execution. If you’re gonna download this for free, it’s all good, the ending is pathetically weak, but I absolutely do not recommend you actually pay for this book. Narration was decent.

I was looking forward to this one, but I can tell you without a doubt, it’s a dud. I didn’t even finish it. And I rarely, rarely not finish a book . Weak character development, unnecessary homosexuality- like why did you even need to add that to the story? It’s didn’t or doesn’t make the characters more interesting in the slightest. Violence against kids again grossly unnecessary. He’s a good storyteller, so this was totally pandering to a progressive liberal reader. Not my cuppa tea.
