Story
There's no such thing as a perfect guy, but Xavier Rush comes disastrously close. A gorgeous veterinarian giving Greek god vibes—all while cuddling a tiny kitten? Immediate yes. That is until Xavier opens his mouth and proves that even sculpted gods can say the absolute wrong thing. Like, really wrong. Of course, there’s nothing Samantha loves more than proving an asshole wrong . . . unless, of course, he can admit he made a mistake.

Caring for a loved one with Dementia
Reviewed: 04-04-25
The author tells us a love story intertwined with the day to day story of caring for a loved family member with dementia and the sacrifices that must be made to do so.
This book was a little light on the wit and humor that frequently comes with the Author’s books.
However ;
Very worth the trip as we are allowed to learn what caring for a family member with the disease means
Both pulls at your heart … and also inspires and educates
Well done

Interesting Plot
Reviewed: 09-25-24
I’ve read most of Mr Spark’s books & I very much appreciate his work. This one was pretty good … almost excellent. The book used the Biblical story of Job in the plot … quite interesting.
You don’t always get a happily ever after in Mr Sparks book … so there was somewhat of a question as to the outcome all the way to the end.
I read ( listened ) to the book in one day … so clearly it kept my interest. The narration was questionable to me in the beginning but as the story went on I got used to the narrator and he was ok.
So, why did I not give it 5 stars ? Well … I felt that the romance in the book fell short. But that’s just me … you may not agree.
It’s a good offering & if you are a fan of Mr Sparks you will enjoy the book.

The grief-stricken family lashes out, though, blaming the billionaire’s date for his death. When the family brings all of its power to bear, the wheels of local justice threaten to overwhelm the woman. As Nate Shepherd steps in to defend her, he tries to deflect the misplaced anger that’s directed at the woman for the tragedy. Once I started … I just could not put it down. This is the second in the series & I have enjoyed both … Nate is very likable / the plots are good & this one had an understated ending that had me thinking to the degree I had to go back @ re/listen.
As I considered it … was just right
I’ll keep going in the series

Just OK
Reviewed: 02-17-24
I listened to this book because Julia W is one of my favorite narrators. It had many good moments of wit and some ( with the grandmother ) that were moving. However the primary theme & love story was fine & OK … it just did not grab me and hold me to the story … in fact toward the end I just got bored
Sorry Julia …

Poor Judgement
Reviewed: 10-12-23
The book pulls you along as all DeMille books do & the primary characters are “typical”
DeMille hero’s … and that’s always good
However this book comes to market as Hamas has just slaughtered a lot of innocent people … including cutting the heads off babies … beyond words … evil
And, DeMille comes to market with a book where the bad guys are about white supremacy … really ?
I know the book has been underway before recent events … but I have seen novelists use this plot too often and it’s lazy and safe … and in this case given current events it’s hard to take
So / it’s the lowest rating I have ever given to a DeMille book

I enjoy the series & I also enjoyed this book. It’s light reading ( listening ) and I have to keep reminding myself not to expect too much. Example : Stone’s relationship with Arrington could be so much better & I have enjoyed the books with her in them. However … Stone moves on very quickly. I suppose the model of the series requires that but it seems to me that Woods could put more depth into the relationship.
So … I’ll keep going and remember these books are light and easy reading

It began on New Year’s Eve. The sickness came on suddenly, and spread quickly. The fear spread even faster. Within weeks, everything people counted on began to fail them. The electrical grid sputtered; law and government collapsed - and more than half of the world’s population was decimated. Where there had been order, there was now chaos. And as the power of science and technology receded, magick rose up in its place.
