Story
Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

Characters and World Built Excellently
Reviewed: 07-28-21
It was a little slow at first, but to be fair most books are like that for me. Then layer after layer of character building and social constructs and world building make it feel well lived in. Bravo. The performance is grand by Kate Reading and Michael Kramer. I would like to thank the performers and Author. Audiobooks are a way to relieve my anxiety and help when I am to ill to read. Mr. Sanderson you are becoming on of my favorite authors.

The pacing is great. In a short time you are invested in the charters. I like the Sherlock Holmes vibes the story had with Fantasy and Scifi feels. My only complaint is I need more of this worldview.

This is the way the world ends: with a nanosecond of computer error in a Defense Department laboratory and a million casual contacts that form the links in a chain letter of death. And here is the bleak new world of the day after: a world stripped of its institutions and emptied of 99 percent of its people. A world in which a handful of panicky survivors choose sides - or are chosen.
