More than Magic, Rise of the Arcanist

Jen Maddox is a few days into her summer study-abroad program. She sees something that isn’t humanly possible. Jen would have thought that it was all a dream if not for the fact that Charlie, Dani, Mariana, TS, and Thomas are making every effort to cover it up. Suddenly, the five of them are everything but normal, and Jen is determined to figure out what they’re hiding. There’s something on the ship. Something dangerous. Suddenly, everyone on board is threatened by a creature that Jen never even believed existed.

After learning how to use magic and fighting vampires, anyone would be bored going back to normal college life. Jen is all too happy to accept an invitation to go skiing with the gang. She gears up for two weeks of snow, magic, and fun. Just when everything seems to be going great, an uninvited guest turns up. Jen thought that vampires were just about the most dangerous thing the magical world could throw at her. Unfortunately, she’s about to learn that people with no magic at all can be just as deadly....

Jen doesn’t know who people keep mistaking her for, but one thing is clear: Her mystery double is not popular. When Jen is kidnapped by a group bent on revenge for something she never did, it’s up to her friends to rescue her. Little do they know, Jen’s captors are ready for them. Thomas, TS, Charlie, Dani, and Mariana become the latest victims of a malicious experiment, one that could spell doom for magic-kind. Now their lives, and maybe their entire world, are in Jen’s hands. Unfortunately, escaping the facility is the least of their problems.

Now the brutal reign of the Arcanist has become little more than a scary bedtime story. And yet, the descendants of his loyal followers are sworn to find a way to bestow his dark magic upon another. If they succeed, they’ll unleash a new terror upon an unsuspecting world.

Of all the places to be transported by magic against my will, a tropical island doesn’t seem too bad. Unfortunately, it’s teeming with blood casters who want me dead. On the bright side, I’m not alone; my friends are here too, and we’ve faced tougher odds together before. But the dangerous magic on this island isn’t like some of our other foes, and there are places some of us can’t even go without triggering deadly blood magic spells. To make matters worse, the leader of the blood casters is here, and she is a witch to be reckoned with.

Our search for Alaria and her blood casters has gone nowhere and no matter what we do, we can’t find a new lead. With no other choice, we have to turn to the investigation we had on hold: the mysterious restaurant where magics go missing every six months and never come back.
