All people see when they look at me is a beautiful man, a supermodel, half of the world’s most famous twins. No one sees the man underneath. When I return to Forestville, the small town I grew up in, for my high school reunion, I impulsively decide to stay.

I’ve always wanted simple things. Become the local sheriff like my dad. Get married and have kids. Build a life in Forestville. I’ve done all that...but it hasn’t turned out as expected. At 48, I’m single and co-parenting my two daughters with my ex-wife. My chances of meeting someone new in my small town are slim. Have I missed my chance at happiness?

We were at the top. Tomás and Tiago Banner, the most famous twins in the world. The sexiest men alive. My whole identity was rooted in being the older brother, in taking care of my twin, in being a model. Until Tiago fell in love and left me on my own. Now I’m lost, drifting without an anchor. But when the wrong people show too much interest in my latest invention, my boss wants me protected. Despite my fierce protests, I end up back in Forestville. With a bodyguard who poses as my boyfriend.

I don’t do emotions or romantic entanglements. My life is simple: I work hard and I play hard, with anyone willing. I’m not discriminatory. And then I go home…alone. Until my body decides to stop cooperating. Nothing is stirring anymore, and it scares me to death. While navigating this issue, support comes from an unlikely source. Ennio, my best friend’s little brother, is sweet and sassy but also stubborn in his decision to be there for me. He’s the vibrant glittery sunshine to my grumpy black heart.
