  • From Raging People Pleaser to Authentic Living
    Mar 15 2025

EP:132 As a former "raging people pleaser", I know firsthand how exhausting it can be to constantly put others' needs before your own. I used to do everything for everyone, to the point where I was absolutely drowning. I'd say yes to things I had no time or energy for, shy away from difficult conversations, and never accept help - all in the pursuit of being the "perfect" mom, wife, friend, and professional. But I've learned that your purpose in life isn't to serve others - it's to live and enjoy your life fully, on your own terms.

It takes courage to stop being a chameleon and start being your authentic self. I had to shed a lot of old relationships and communities that didn't accept the real me. But surrounding myself with my "people" - those who love and support me unconditionally - has been so freeing. Now I use my values as a compass, being honest about what I want and need, even if it means setting boundaries that ruffle some feathers. I've realized that being honest and assertive isn't the same as being unkind or selfish. It's about having the courage to show up as your true self.

Overcoming people-pleasing isn't easy, but it's so worth it for your mental health and personal fulfillment. Start small, be patient with yourself, and remember - you are worthy, even if it means ruffling a few feathers. 🦋

  • When Your Partner Has Nothing Left to Give
    Mar 7 2025

As a parent, I know how easy it is to get so caught up in the demands of work, home, and family that you have nothing left to give your partner. I've been there - feeling lonely, resentful, and disconnected from the person I love the most. But I've also learned that it doesn't have to be that way.

It takes effort to keep that love muscle strong, but it's so worth it. Make date nights a non-negotiable, even if it's just a simple activity together. And don't be afraid to plan a kid-free getaway - even 3 days can reignite that spark. Your relationship deserves that investment. You both do. It's not easy, but choosing each other, even when life is crazy, is what will keep your bond alive.

Ready to learn more? Listen to the full episode of the Thrive Like a Parent Podcast, where I dive deeper into this topic. Your relationship is worth the investment - let's work on it together!

    XOXO, Dr. B

  • When Mess Triggers Your Nervous System
    Feb 28 2025

EP:130 As a parent, I know how triggering mess and clutter can be. It's like my brain just snaps! But I've learned some tricks to manage it. First, I made my bedroom a peaceful sanctuary - no TV, just calm vibes. It's my Hail Mary when the rest of the house is a disaster zone. I grew up in a super tidy home, but now I've had to release that perfectionism. My house isn't Pinterest-perfect, but good enough is good enough.

I also get the kids involved - one new chore at a time so it doesn't overwhelm them (or me!). It's a work in progress, but creating that calm space and delegating responsibilities has been game-changing.

I used to get so anxious when my parents would visit, worried they'd judge my messy home. But I've learned to give myself grace - clutter doesn't define my worth as a parent.

If mess stresses you out, you're not alone. With a little self-compassion and some simple strategies, you can regain that sense of peace and control. Who's with me on this decluttering journey?

    XOXO, Dr. B
