Acerca de esta escucha

The first time I saw him my heart ran away.

No matter that Cade was completely off-limits. Or that he told me to stay out of his way.

The heart wants what it wants. And mine had bound itself to him.

My father stood between us, as I knew he would. As he stood between me and any sort of happiness.

No matter how hard I wished for a new life... The invisible walls of his cage were harder.

I thought I needed a hero. Someone to break me out, to grant me the freedom I dreamed of.

Cade Warren is no hero. But maybe it takes a villain to save a girl like me.

Book two of three in the final trilogy in the Dirty Universe.

Do I recommend? Yes! You have to read Wild Rebel first.

Trigger Warnings: BEWARE!

Tropes: dark romantic suspense, second chance, enemies-to-lovers

Wild War picks up where Wild Rebel left off. Cade Warren and Jolie Stark have returned back to where they first met. Cade and Jolie fell in love in high school. Her father’s family owned Stark Academy, where he was Headmaster. Mr. Stark was evil incarnate and from the moment Cade started at the Academy, he tried to torture him into following his rules. He did his best to keep Cade and Jolie apart. We get some expected and unexpected answers in this book but when it comes to Stark, more answers lie in the shadows. The majority of this story is told about the past, explaining how the couple met and the events surrounding why Jolie never met Cade so they could runaway together. I’m really looking forward to reading how the author will bring their story to a close with the last book. I listened to this audiobook and unlike the first book, this one is told in dual perspectives. The narrators did an incredible job. This is my honest opinion, freely given.

Highly entertaining!

This book is so enthralling!! I can't get enough of this story! the context has you on the edge of your seat. The cliff hanger in book 1 should've been a clue that there would be a cliff hanger in book 2 but I was not prepared!!!! I need the rest of this story asap!

Great Audio!

cliff hanger

How does Laurelin Paige do it? She takes these stories that have such horrific back stories and turns them into must reads! Jolie and Cade's story continues through book two and my heart breaks for who they were and what they had to endure at the hand of Jolie's father. The cliffy at the end left me with my mouth open, but I did kind of see it coming. Can't wait to finish their story!

The narrators made me feel every little thing. Amazing job!

Wow!

I’ve been through two books now and no resolution. The third book isn’t available in audiobook.

Love this story and the narrators, but…

I like this almost as much as the first book. Two reasons I didn’t like it as much: 1. I didn’t like the abuse inflicted upon Cade and Jolie. It was terrible and difficult to listen to. 2. It wasn’t all narrated by Sebastian York (like book 1). Elena Wolfe does an excellent job. This was the back story of book 1. About 80% set in the past. This book perfectly sets up book 3. I am glad I only have to wait a few days for the Audible release of the final book. 📚

Almost as good as the first!

Love the series! Only problem the three books are published so far apart that you have to reread or listen to previous books,if you’re an avid reader. to reacquaint yourself with the details.

I thought the first part is really good but this, the second part is even better. Not surprisingly, both narrators (Sebastian York and Elena Wolfe) did an excellent job. I'm ready to listen for the third part.

It just gets better and better

While this part of Cade and Jolie’s history was excruciatingly painful to absorb it was their shared experience that blew my mind because of the cruelty of her father’s persecution and their helplessness to escape him. The physical, emotional and psychological torture is disgustingly cruel when added to Cain’s mother’s betrayal but the growing love between them was heartbreakingly poignant. The growing evil machinations of Jolie’s father were absolutely evil but nothing could have prepared me for the second mind blowing cliffhanger in this series. I loved every painful minute of Elena Wolfe and Sebastian York’s narration performance of these unforgettable characters. The emotional depth of their narration and Laurelin Paige’s storytelling is beyond compare.

Beyond compare!

A lot of this book is spent giving us the back story of when they were teens and what they went through both individually and together. We see how their young love started as anything but puppy love, but grew rapidly and turned into the kind of love many adults would only hope to find. Cade is so careful with Jolie ensuring that she knows he isn’t just there for the physical (er hello mature 18 year old, hormonal ridden young man) which is pretty impressive for someone so young. This book is full of suspense. Will they get caught, will they succeed in their quest, will they be able to forgive and move forwards, will they get their HEA? Laurelin writes some tender loving between Cade and Jolie as teens and it’s a stark contrast to the interactions of their adult selves but still it adds to the picture that is painted of their intertwining lives and hearts. AND once again Holy Freaking Plot Twist Batgirl!! She delivers the mutha of all plot twists at the end and now I’m kind of stabby that book 3 isn’t out yet!!!

Sebastian and Elena as always give us an emotional performance easily flipping between teenagers and adults in their 30s.

Finishes on a great plot twist!!!

Wow! This book is dark. The abuse that both Jolie and Cade endured was off the charts. I hated Carla, Cade`s mom for neglecting and not supporting her son. Landon, Jolie's father was beyond cruel, he is a very sick man, a monster by all definition of the word. I believe he was also sexually molesting his daughter and Jolie found a retrieve when he was abusing Cade, as clearly he was getting off when abusing him. Lastly, I think Tate is not Cade's son, but Landon. I hope am wrong though. Sebastián York and Elena Wolfe performances were stellar! Laurelin Paige kept me in pins and needles with this memorable tale, I was so tense and anticipating what was going to happen next, love it!
