It was a best seller in the 1930s when it first came out, full of 1930s atmosphere, skilfully written and well researched, too - although Wheatley never practiced magic himself, he met with many of the most famous occultists of his day to make the book as authentic as possible. In The Devil Rides Out, the Duke de Richleau and a friend find that one of their number is missing from a reunion, and it turns out that he has fallen under the influence of a black magic sect.

It lost some of the charm that the first book had
While this was still a very good and entertaining book, it didn't have the wow factor that the first book did by introducing a new idea. One of the nice things this book did was give more background as to how Warlock Homes became who he was and how he was able to do some of these amazing things.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed this, it just didn't pull me back to it like the first one did.

Just as wonderful as the 1st book!
This is another excellent book by G.S. Denning! I've just finished this and can't wait to hear the next! Picture Sherlock Holmes as a magic user and Dr. Watson keeping him in check in more fantastic mysteries! I also love that it's many adventures and not just 1. Author please keep writing these!

Book 2 as entertaining as the first!
If you enjoyed the first one, you'll enjoy this one as well. You also get the bonus of delving into Warlock's past, which makes a bit of sense out of a lot of the weirdness that tends to go on. Looking forward to the next one!

Enjoyable take on Holmes and Watson
Holmes gives magic a new look. Well contrived spin on the outcome of the Baskerville saga. Hearty laughs at Watson's perspective; combined with a explanation of Holmes origins.

Just a fun listen
I enjoy this series, and we are given a look at Warlock's history. The story had some transitional issues where you could be distracted and lose the thread and feel the story was meandering a bit wide.
Like the first book, it was an entertaining listen, and I look forward to many more Warlock Holmes novels.
The short stories at the beginning of this book were actually a better listen. If the author does an anthology of this type of short-story be sure to pick it up.

Gut buster!
Would you listen to Warlock Holmes: The Hell-Hound of the Baskervilles again? Why?
Oh yes!! I see Warlock Holmes as my new "go to" if I just need a good giggle!
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
I don't know if reading this as a physical book would have the same effect. Its a GREAT story line but the narrator steals the day and really makes the story shine!
What does Robert Garson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
When I die, I want this man to narrate my autobiography! His dry sarcastic British accent brings this book to life! Watson has always been described as a put out genius having to deal with the simpleton Holmes. Garson embodies Watson and drives home idiocy of Holmes and the cracked patience of Watson!
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I laughed til I cried over the horses! I even replayed the part about the murder weapon appearing point first in Warlocks hand for my husband after he came in to find out why I was "snorfuling" (laughing/snorting/chortling whole heartedly) in bed.
Any additional comments?
I NEED MORE!!! Of BOTH of these men! I want to find them, kidnap them and make them tell me stories all day long! I want to live with Holmes and Watson and bask in their adventures!
