Acerca de esta escucha
"A luminous and beautiful novel that gently lures the reader into a captivating story with a mystery at its heart." (Jennifer Saint, best-selling author of Ariadne)
Set on a secluded island off the British coast, The Women of Pearl Island is a moving and evocative story of family secrets, natural wonders, and a mystery spanning decades.
When Tartelin answers an ad for a personal assistant, she doesn't know what to expect from her new employer, Marianne, an eccentric elderly woman. Marianne lives on a remote island that her family has owned for generations, and for decades her only companions have been butterflies and tightly held memories of her family.
But there are some memories Marianne would rather forget, such as when the island was commandeered by the British government during WWII.
Now, if Marianne can trust Tartelin with her family's story, she might finally be able to face the long-buried secrets of her past that have kept her isolated for far too long.

Historia
The ornate reading room at the Boston Public Library is quiet—until the tranquility is shattered by a woman's terrified scream. Security guards take charge immediately, instructing everyone inside to stay put until the threat is identified and contained. While they wait for the all-clear, four strangers, who'd happened to sit at the same table, pass the time in conversation, and friendships are struck. Each has his or her own reasons for being in the reading room that morning—it just happens that one is a murderer.

Molly Gray is not like everyone else. She struggles with social skills and misreads the intentions of others. Her gran used to interpret the world for her, codifying it into simple rules that Molly could live by. Since Gran died a few months ago, twenty-five-year-old Molly has been navigating life’s complexities all by herself. No matter—she throws herself with gusto into her work as a hotel maid. Despite their fearsome reputation, their remote nature appeals to young Lucy Riley, who in 1859 seeks a new start as a teacher to the lighthouse keepers’ children. But Lucy brings treacherous secrets with her, including a name that isn’t hers and a past she can’t escape. On the island, she meets Will Sisson, a mysterious man who seems to recognize her name—but not her face. Wary of Will at first, Lucy slowly starts to trust him.

Beautiful story- mesmerizing
I enjoyed listening to. The story & narrator were enjoyable. I’m glad a friend recommended this- I might not have found it otherwise. If you like historical fiction, intrigue, butterflies, biology, nature you will like this. Two women, different generations, processing events in their lives, form a friendship. The book skims through the present and past in a way that works well & is is easy to follow. I will definitely read more of this author’s work!

Unbelievably boring
This book is horrible. It’s about nothing. I got to chapter 15 and had to call it quits because I was literally so bored listening to it I would start day dreaming. ITS ABOUT NOTHING. Just rambling of a bored author. Don’t waste your credits or money like I did.
