It leaves me wanting to know what happened next. especially liked the genuine portrayal of how men treated women then.

Best book in 5 years!

The story is incredible - great dialogue and details but fast moving and engaging. It's the best book I've read/listened to since Where the Crawdads Sing. Loved each character and it's read aloud so well. I was sad to have it end.

I want more

Great story, not full of sex scenes, but emotional in so many ways. A brave, interesting, intelligent woman who cares not for the silly pursuits of women of her time, but for personal growth AND love. I would love to read more of this author(s)!

A woman had to prove herself, to be accepted as capable.

Narration was superb. Story was a bit typical, predictable and slow. There were a few interesting scenarios though to perk the storyline up a bit.

So interesting, so relatable with a daughter in law surgeon, and smatterings of red tape, biases, and prejudices thrown in with a romantic flare.

I very much enjoyed the way it was written not a lot of additional description

It was not predictable. It was well written and performed

It was engaging. If I missed anything, I was interested enough to go back and start prior to the missed part. I slow the tempo down to 9 so I miss nothing with the reading. The pace change feature is brilliant on Audible’s system.

great story, great writing, great reading

I liked the book, partly because I am a woman in the medical field and interested in the story of a woman starting out in the field so long ago before it was considered proper. I also appreciated the writing, with creative metaphors and imagey throughout. The performance was well done. I will likely listen to this one again.
