much throw up

This book and series is best enjoyed when read in order.
A dead man, a dead woman & and hit-and-run fuel the mystery that keeps growing with an added secret book decoration across a series of 8 lady artist books.
The plot throw up at the end kind of blew this one for me as it wasn’t clear what part the books had to do with the actions or revelation. Even after relistening to the end 5x and more.
Dukehart was ok as narrator.

I love this series so much. The compassion and affection the main ladies have for each other is beautiful.

Such good characters

I love visiting Miracle Springs :) I wish it was a real place! I enjoy the intrigue of this story, even if some of it was easy to guess. The editor needs to step up their game, though. In Chapter 2, in the same scene, Nora climbs into June’s “old Bronco,” then June drives down the street to park her “new Bronco.” An editor should have caught that, if the author didn’t. Things like that are jarring and take you out of the story.

Another lovely installment

I throughly enjoyed this installment with Hester, June, Nora, and Estella in Miracle Springs. Each page feels like a conversation with an old friend. I’m never disappointed. I’ll be looking forward to the next book in this series.

Excellent

I really liked the storyline of this book. It wasn’t until almost the end that I learned who the murderer was. Narration was great. Love the various accents. I would definitely refer this to any mystery-who done it seeker.

Like a hug from a friend

The Secret Book and Scone Society is my favorite series by Ellery Adams. It was nice to have the warmth and caring friendships carry each other thru new dilemmas and murder solutions.

Interesting addition to the series

There was a bit more review than necessary, especially if you are reading the series. But a good story none the less. it did get a bit confusing at the end as they sort out the mystery. Thank goodness for rewind! I love this narrator, she does a great job keeping the voices of the characters straight and there are a lot of them!

Narrator’s Style Matured With This One

The earlier 4 novels saw incremental improvement in the narrator’s tone and style but this 5th in the series really showed she had come into her own.

The book itself is the best type of ‘cozy’ mystery offering a mystery while also being a compelling but not overwhelming work of women’s literature. The author did deftly delve into some topics from more recent news while not dwelling on them too deeply and thus breaking from a ‘cozy’ format. I wasn’t certain that I would care for the work fairly early on in the first novel but persevered and have been richly rewarded. I was pleased to discover that not all cozy mysteries are cotton candy and, well, fluff. This is a novel - series of novels - that have now become my benchmark that going forward must be met to earn a place on my stack of reading.

Highly recommended. Do read/listen to the series in order. The complexity of the characters and the town is established over time and those enriching details are not to be missed. Enjoy!
