Acerca de esta escucha

Do you suffer from back, knee, or neck pain, migraines, arthritis, fibromyalgia, or any other condition that causes chronic discomfort? Have you searched far and wide for answers only to find yourself disappointed and in pain again? This discouraging cycle can be as damaging to your quality of life as the pain itself. If you're tired of running into roadblocks, it might be time for a new approach. It's time to leverage the natural power and flexibility of your brain, so you can finally free yourself from chronic pain and take charge of your life.

At the heart of this groundbreaking workbook is pain reprocessing therapy (PRT)—the most effective current treatment for chronic pain. PRT is a highly streamlined, evidence-based method that actually retrains the brain to accurately interpret sensory signals from the body, interrupting the perpetual pain cycle so you can find some relief. You'll begin by exploring the ins and outs of how pain works, with special emphasis on understanding the critical relationship between pain and fear.

If your quest for relief has led to nothing but frustration, shame, stigmatization, and endless agony, the answers found in this friendly guide will illuminate a path away from pain and toward lasting comfort and peace of mind. Go ahead, take the first step.

Much-Needed PRT Workbook

I like that the authors gave specific examples, particularly when they spoke about addressing migraine headaches with PRT. Focusing on colors or sounds when I feel a sensation in my head seems like it will be helpful.

My intro to this work is from Alan Gordon’s “The Way Out,” and this workbook broke PRT down for me in practical ways of how to use it and apply it to my life and the lives of my future PRT clients (I recently got PRT certified so hopefully I can help others with their pain too). It also had info not featured in The Way Out, so it’s a good supplement to that amazing book.

PRT has made a huge change in my life after over 30 years of chronic migraine headaches and TMJ. I am still working through some other issues (extinction bursts, IBS, anxiety) and appreciate the exercises described in the book to help my hypervigilant brain focus on other things so I can get out of the pain-fear cycle. Thank you for sharing your own personal experiences with pain and for writing this book!
