Acerca de esta escucha

A New York Times bestselling author delivers a lavish, unforgettable story of an orphan turned WWII spy turned fashion icon in Paris.

Alix St. Pierre. An unforgettable name for an unforgettable woman. She grew up surrounded by Hollywood glamor, but, as an orphan, never truly felt part of that world. In 1943, with WWII raging and men headed overseas to fight, she lands a publicity job to recruit women into the workforce. Her skills—persuasion, daring, quick-witted under pressure—catch the attention of the U.S. government and she finds herself with an even bigger assignment: sent to Switzerland as a spy. Soon Alix is on the precipice of something big, very big. But how far can she trust her German informant…?

After an Allied victory that didn’t come nearly soon enough, Alix moves to Paris, ready to immerse herself in a new position as director of publicity for the yet-to-be-launched House of Dior. In the glamorous halls of the French fashion house, she can nearly forget everything she lost and the dangerous secret she carries. But when a figure from the war reappears and threatens to destroy her future, Alix realizes that only she can right the wrongs of the past …and finally find justice.

Interesting historical perspective

Great performance. The story was interesting from a historical perspective but it was too long. The ending was disappointing.

Great storytelling!

Love novels of this era. Makes you realize that history repeats itself. Europe during WW2 has endless stories about the atrocities of war. This story intertwines romance, love and death. Well written and thoroughly enjoyed.

Strong, interesting, admirable main character

I loved the main character
Alix St.Pierre. The plot was very engaging and very convoluted. Held my attention very well.

Another great story by Lester

I really enjoy this author's style. I know I'm always in for great character development, an immersive look back in time, and a well rounded plot. I'm a fan and will no doubt be back for more! This is also a top notch narrator whom I've listened to several times. Her accents are fantastic and her tone changes for all the characters are wonderful.

Great narration

I enjoyed this book. The narration was fabulous! I love a narrator that can pull off both male and female voices and not sound silly. Barrie Kreinik does that!!

Brilliant!

This was very difficult to put down. It’s amazing. I got anything done. I got pulled in to this story quite quickly and just finished it right now. I’ve read everyone of Natasha Lesters books, and I’m waiting for more.

Not what I thought

I had never read anything by this author and when I went through the 4 and 5 star reviews thought it would be a good read.
Unfortunately this book was not for me. I found the storyline boring and hard to follow. I was very disappointed. Narration was good.
