Couldn't put it down

The story was thoughtful and moving. Beautifully written. The narration was lovely! Throughly enjoyed the entire experience!

Beautiful, poignant, and I couldn't put it down.

This novel was a beautifully written escape into another time. Though heartbreaking, it was like the entire book was poetry.

The only reason I didn't give a narration a perfect score is because these German characters had a British accent. I love a British accent, so it was not difficult to listen to at all. But, could've had a tad more authenticity. Sometimes the narrating is reason to not to listen to a book, but this is not one of those times.

Two young women who beat the odds

Did not like the hidden cruelty of the male character and the fact that she was so unaware

Easy listening

A bit tired of the two time period ploy. However, the story of the earlier time period is surely riveting

Kept me guessing….

It kept me guessing which is hard to do. The reader was spot on and the writing is solid! I would highly recommend this book especially if WWll dramas are your thing. I don’t know why but I always enjoy a bit of historical fiction.

Perfect balance of drama and restoration

An amazing storyline that flows from Nazi tyranny to family reunion spanning 50 years. one of the best examples of what makes an audio book so enchanting. I believe the reading captures the nuances the author intended better than if I had read it on my own. I recommend this book in the highest manner possible. I cam only hope a mini series is in the works!

Empathy unbounded

There is caring and love beyond the boundaries that the world imposes. Tenacity is shown despite the hurdles.

Family, love, WWII, loss and reconnection!!

Beautiful written and narrated!! An incredible love story thru the ages and wonderful description of Berlin during the war.. Love, loss, fighting spirit, reconnection and finally a family brought together after years of separation!! Extremely well written and narrated with many plots, twists, turns and suspense during that time of German occupation in Berlin!! Loved it!! Listened straight thru and couldn’t put it down!! Highly recommended!

Very well done, good narration

A dual timeliness done very well. Lots of twists and turns. Tears, fear, love, courage, forgiveness. Reunification. Beautiful.

Amazing story

A bit of a slow start but once it got going I was mesmerized and anxious to follow each character. I would have liked more of an ending and description for Lily’s’ character. The narrator did a fine job but could have used more of a German accent when speaking about the various German characters. Each person in the narrator’s voice sounded very similar. Over all I enjoyed this story very much. Would definitely recommend.
