Aegis is back! But are the Paragons no more?

Fresh off a summer vacation to remember, Hugo resumes his role protecting the city of San Miguel. As a teen hero trying to make his way through a dangerous world, he's been forced to reflect on the impact he's making around him while juggling his ambitions and romances with his growing responsibilities as Aegis.

On top of all that, Hugo and his friends are now on the cusp of adulthood starting their senior year of high school.

However, the scars from Damocles's reign of terror have not fully healed, with countless superheroes across America hanging up their capes for good. Hugo is also haunted by mistakes of the past, uncertain if he should continue leading the Paragons or even keep the team together.

But that doubt could prove fatal when a new threat emerges. One that wants absolute power at all costs and will slaughter any superhero who stands in their way.

That leaves Hugo with one choice. Rebuild the Paragons and be Big Damn Superheroes. If he doesn't, all of California will suffer.

Join the fight in The Greater Good, book nine of the bestselling Pantheon Saga.

A slow build up!

I like the world building for the saga but I wanted more of Hugo’s villain brother…other titans kids besides the ones we know of,more about the time traveling hero, asteroth and Damocles return. I was sick of hearing about their relationship issues that’s for sure. Not one chapter went by without going back to that. It would seem in the future this is foreshadowing plot. Maybe asteroth new herald Bree?? Spencer did it with Reva. Good read tho to past the time.

Wonderful story continued

I have loved and adored all of this saga. I first picked up this series by my brothers recommendation once reconnecting after years of being apart. We formed a sort of book club over it. The wide cast and all of their personalities coming to light. Complex character development and humor to boot. I’m a decent way through this newest book but still I don’t want to put it down. The performance is astounding once again. Every character feels so unique and the immersion is spectacular. I often will be in the middle of doing something listening while I can and I get wrapped up that I forget what I’m doing. Another awesome title and another great work. So glad to finally have this in audio form. Please C.C. ekeke if you see this. Know your work is awesome and deserves much more shine in the spot light. Also wouldn’t be opposed to seeing my name in a future book haha. That or my brother Brad. Huge fans here!

She’s 62 you freak lmao😭😭

In all seriousness it’s a good book, but I hate how they ignore a clear nod to Azeroth in the starry void church and I personally don’t like the poly relationship it’s a off putting and Bri is just a horrible person you can tell I hate her with Hugo but again still a good book so far!

Good Read Though Unfocused

Overall this was a decent read, however, it felt more like one long epilogue. There wasn’t really a big villain to fight or anything major to resolve. The characters were reintroduced and focus was given to what they are doing now. Overall the story sets up multiple threads to be followed later which was nice, but as many side stories they could almost have been brought up in dialogue and this could have been skipped.

Great story as always!

The addition of a cult was dope! Honestly, after the last book I thought you were done with this series. I knew there were unresolved issues, and should have see this coming. I welcome the new turn of events, and can’t wait for the next installment! Thank you!

Setting it up

I really wanted to completely love this book. I found myself feeling like the whole book was a setup for a bigger story arc. This book was like an appetizer but you never get to the main meal before it ends. Cliffhangers? Kinda, yeah.

A minor critique: I would like to see a fewer lines from the earlier books in the series. -Don't get me wrong, I love Ekeke's work and I adore his cast of characters. That being said, I can only hear " textbook superhero landing" or "perfect superhero landing" so many times, before I start to wonder if he was just tired of describing the landings. This is just an example, but there seemed to be some other Ekeke cliches scattered throughout that felt too familiar. -How many times are Bree or Jen going to be nearly fainting from mere contact with Hugo?

I honestly don't like Bree, but I think she's so detestable because Ekeke is setting us up for the moment when she is either killed off or Hugo finally breaks up with her permanently. I think it would be better if she didnt go dark again like she used to be. Hugo is blind to her awfulness and it seems unlikely given how vigilant and self aware he is all the time.

There is a significant amount of text spent on establishing the fact that Hugo loves Jen and Bree ridiculously. It felt like it was a little bit too much of a focal point.

Again, don't get me wrong, I love this book series, and I really want the series to continue. I suppose I'm just struggling because Hugo has it all, and everything seems to be going near perfectly for him with very few bumps along the way. He gets challenged, but always seems to overcome and/or bounce back. I'm truly hoping that something awful happens and he experiences a terrible amount of sacrifice and loss. I'm not a sadist, but I really feel like it's all too easy for him at this point.

If I'm being perfectly honest, it bothers me how overpowered Hugo is. He has a ridiculous power set, unmatched by any. I think it would be good if he was forced to give up certain powers in order to keep others. I'm not sure how that would come to pass... maybe a magical binding spell or curse or something.

I'm not an author.

Why is Bri even still in this story?

I don't think I've ever hated a character as much as I hate Bri. She is a terrible person and worsens the life of everyone around her. About half way through the book I began skipping every scene she featured in and not only did it not hurt the story, it actively made it better.

Good book overall, author just needs to get rid of this awful character.

This book just talks about 3 person relationship

Love the voice actors they are great! I’m only 4 hours in and it’s just high school sex. I was hoping when they added the three person relationship it wouldn’t turn into a sex story about teens but that’s what happened and it’s hard to listen to with other people around because you can barely go ten minutes without them talking about it. Was such a great story before hand

25 hours of filler

Wow this was REALLY hard to get through. I've been slowly losing interest in this series of the past several books, but this is the worst one by far. Nothing interesting happens until the final chapter, and the story doesn't progress until the epilogue. Everything before that was centered around Hugo's harem of simps and their low stakes highschool melodrama. I never want to hear the word "throuple" again. There were no character arcs, no growth, no journeys. Things just happen. And then more things just happen. If, like me, the broader story of Asteroth is the only thing maintaining your interest, this book can be skipped completely. Any one sentence recap at the start of the next one will be more than sufficient to catch you up on the single development. Adenrele Ojo is the worst of the 3 narrators, and unfortunately she was given the vast majority of chapters.
