Loves the two intertwining stories

I loved how the two stories being told at different times came together to display what really happened. Great narration. Wish there was a #29 in the series!

Disappointed

I was so looking for to the next Banks book, but this one didn’t draw me in. Disappointing because the other books in the series I had a difficult time putting down.
I also did not care for the narrator. That might seem unfair to him, but I guess I was used to Simon Simon was the voice of Banks.

Loved it.

Well written engrossing mystery by this author, as always. Simon Vance is a magician at conveying the subtle atmosphere and emotions required by Peter Robinson’s story, and indeed by Inspector Banks himself.

Wow! Really good

I’ve came to the Banks books originally through my local library and just really liked him. This is a special treat. Wonderful forward and backward flashing between two stories that tie together nicely. Bravo.

Boring and slow

This was a dull and slow listen. Endless boring conversations about a crime. No action, no intrigue, no twists and surprises. This was like watching Dateline stretch a 3 minute story into a 60 minute show.

I really enjoyed it.

The story is usually good, snd all together,, after so many books about Banks, it feels as you know him as a friend

Finished the book them found that Peter had passed away.

Very sad, he will really be missed. Not my favorite Banks story but enjoyed it just the same. Missed Annie! Peter RIP

Not Very Exciting

The story seem to drag in the middle with too many references to what music he was, listening to, which woman he was sleeping with, instead of building on the crime, the mystery, the suspense.

One of the best of the lot and a fitting end

A better balance of engaging story with less tiring lists of music and performers. I enjoyed this final episode very much.
I am glad I read through to the last one, although I did skip a few in the middle because of the narrator’s voice. Unlike some reviewers, I thought Simon Vance was the best of the four. Prebble made everyone sound too old.

Difficult to follow who, what, why and when of several characters

The story moved between two time periods with different people in each. During the last chapters, it finally came together to fit these characters into the plot of story
