Excellent story and narration

Top 10 WH audiobook, everything was excellent, from the plot, to the characters to the wonderful narrator

Great story with one minor performance issue.

I loved the story from beginning to end, it did a great job of fleshing out the death korps as human while simultaneously staying true to their reputation. The performance was great as it’s the same reader Timothy Watson who has done an excellent job reading the other death korps of krieg novels. However for some reason in the other two novels he’s read, the kriegsmen had German accents which is completely lacking in this novel making it sometimes hard to tell what characters are speaking since there are several non kriegsmen also in the book. Overall a great book and reader that could have been better, but is still good.

Great story

The best way you can write about a seize from multiple people’s perspective in the Imperium.

The power of accents 

I loved this book and the amount of ruthless action it has almost being nonstop, combat, and how it does take a deeper look into the death korps belief system showing that they don’t die for no reason I did like that, what I didn’t like was the lack of German accents I know it sounds small, but in reality it was very confusing for me to tell which characters were from the death korps & which characters were not. from the previous books DEAD MEN WALKING & KRIEG the korps men have all had German accents I believe this helps them sound other worldly and different, compared to normal guardsmen, and gives them more character. I think in my personal opinion going forward the death Korps should still have German accents. When you hear them talk, you know it’s a man of Krieg stoic and authoritative speaking his orders into existence for the emperor. Otherwise I greatly enjoyed this audio book.

Great novel version of the old tale of the siege of vraks!

Even if you know the whole story already the book gives a more intimate view of what was occurring and is well written and spoken.

Great Krieg book! Very good to see the Krieg perspective, Hope there is a follow up on Colonel tyborc!

Better than the first Krieg book!

If you already know about the siege on vraks you won't get much new here. That said, this is a truly interesting way of seeing 40k battle at its biggest and most ridiculous from a more personal point of view. If you love Krieg get it.
If you don't know anything about the siege on vraks but want a book about it from the Krieg point of view, get it!!

The level of emotion and mental stress is conveyed

It was a solid book well rounded. Narrated beautifully. Only complaint it felt a little short.

An interesting take on well-known events

Steve Lyons is extremely good at portraying the Death Korps. This was probably the most challenging task he could have been given in portraying them and the war that made them fan favorites. Even if you’re very familiar with the story, there is definitely still something in this book you’re going to like.
