Better even the second time around

When I first read the story I fell in love with the way I HATED Ryan….H.D’s writing in this story is phenomenal, she makes you really hate the situation that the FMC Is in and makes the struggle that she deals with feel so real to the point that you can’t even be disgusted with the way it turns out for Ryan. And Mako….what a true hero, on so many levels. This was a brilliant story and really came to life with the amazing narration by two of the top narrators today!

Huge fan !

I’m a huge fan of the author & im currently binging all the books. I honestly loved how dark and raw this story turned out & the mixed emotions it left me. There were some times when I instantly thought of zade & just kept thinking of haunting Adeline. But it was mainly one scene specifically that was a huge reference 🔪. Regardless, this was an amazing dark story & im so happy with how everything turned out !!

I loved this book, I am a huge fan of H.D. Carlton already so it was easy for me to wanna pick this up. Where her other stories have heavy romantic plots this one did not but the story itself was both moving and shocking. It did have a beautiful romance, just wasn’t the main part of the story.

Binged it!

I’ve listened to all of HD audio books. They are so captivating. I listened to this every free moment I could in two days. The story was spectacular and the narrators weren’t afraid to yell and show emotion!

Oh my gosh, where to start? This is a story of survival, if anything. Sometimes, when you love someone, it can be hard to leave them even when you know they are killing you. In one way or another. You think you can believe them when they say they'll do better. You make yourself think you brought it on. You trust the lies.

But sometimes, you fight. And fighting pays off.

My heart absolutely broke for River over and over again. Her will to survive in spite of everything she had endured made me love her so much.

I only wish that for anyone who finds themselves in a situation like River, that they have a Mako fighting to get them through the other side.

Mako walked so that Zade could run. I said what I said.

"Are you going to arrest me for breaking and entering, Detective?"
"If you end up in my handcuffs, it won't be because I'm arresting you."

The DUET audio of this book was so well done. I love Jacob Morgan in any role he plays.

Love these narrators

The story lost me a little in the beginning but overall it pulled me back in and I really enjoyed it. The narrators are favorites of mine so I think they definitely helped make the story that much better.

Wow just wow

I knew based on some of the reviews that this was going to be a very dark book, but damn was it dark! Good but really dark. Definitely not for the weak. Might be my favorite book from this author. Would love a part 2.

DARK ROMANCE! masterpiece

This book keeps you invested from start to finish. This is a new author to me but I'm already hooked.
It is definitely dark romance with capital D! You have to be prepared for lots of negative emotions. I have listened to many of these so I didn't break but I can see how it may seem traumatic to some. You have to be prepared for the worst. Trigger warning: the story contains many scenes of verbal and physical abuse, lots of violence, and first degree rape. But that what's expected given the subgerne. Overall however it's is a beautiful love story and the narrators did an outstanding job delivering it. And it does have a happy ending!

Was surprised at how the victim seemed to put up with. Thankfully I have never had to deal with this issue in my life. Not the way to end it but without help. I think it was a great ending.

This book will forever be one of my favorites. It is a dark romance with a lot of triggers! check your triggers. This story made me cry, angry and frustrated! the MMC and FMC are hot and the spice is SPICY! 🌶️ You’ll fall in love with them and their journey.
