Bye bye book slump!

Perfection! This book had it all....the perfect amount of character development mixed with angst that will make you cry mixed with a wonderful slow burn. I enjoy some hot sex mixed with a great storyline and this book delivered....not too much and not too little.

I did have a few times when I wanted to throw my earbuds across my desk, but isn’t that what a good book does? It makes us feel! The narrators did a good job bringing the characters to life. I would definitely recommend using a credit on this one.

Wrong male narrator listed.

Are we going to ignore the fact that the narrator is listed wrong. Teddy Hamilton is the narrator for pike. Not Andrew Eiden.

Amazing story. Teddy Hamilton does as amazing job as always.

Listening to it is even better than reading it!

I love this book so much!!! I will only listen to audiobooks that I have read the books of, and upon getting an Audible account, I knew I'd have to start with this one.

Despite just being a great story, I relate to this one a lot so it'll always hold a special place in my heart. Jordan is relatable character. She wants her life to be in a specific way, but is stuck with a boyfriend that just does not have the same aspirations as her. Upon financial troubles, they move into his father's house. Said father is Pike Lawson, the man she met the day before officially meeting him as the dad.

The slow-burn romance and angst in this book is really what makes it amazing. While Jordan is holding off for respect for her ex, they have plenty of heated run-ins. There is no cheating in this book. Penelope writes a book with such a complicated story, but avoids that trope altogether. Angst only goes so far, when they finally make moves.

While I thought reading this was fantastic, listening to it was just fantastic. When reading, i couldn't put voices to the characters, but these narrators did it perfectly and now I can't hear them any other way. I listened on 1x, as the pacing of this story was perfect. They didn't speak too fast or slow, and it was perfect for the story.

Fabulous story!

I wasn't sure if I would enjoy this story, based on the wide age gap. (She's 19, he's 38.) If written well, the age difference is an issue in the story but not to the reader, and that's exactly how this story was. She was a very mature 19, and he was a 38 yr old who hadn't ever fallen in love and started the life everyone looks forward to.

The book was also long, which is usually a sign for me that I'll get bored around 75% and just wish it was over. Absolutely NOT the case with this story! I was addicted to this couple and the sexual tension between them kept me listening non-stop. (In fact I stayed awake until 4am and still had 3.5 hrs to go the next day.)

Great characters who are already strong, but still reaching for improvement in themselves and finding a way to be together despite the stigma. (In this case, not just the age gap, but she was in a relationship with his son for quite a while, too.) Early on I wondered repeatedly how the author was going to give these two an HEA that the son/ex-bf could accept. I won't give it away, but it worked out beautifully, in my opinion.

I loved this story and I'd heartily recommend it!

hot, sexy & beautifully written

I loved this book. first the hottest scene ever read before. beautiful from start to finish. got to be there from first meeting and read as they fell in love. like i was there . i love Penelope douglas she is an amazing writer

Sweet forbidden romance

I was told to read this book when it first came out and forgot it was in my library. I came across the synopsis for it again recently when looking for taboo and forbidden romances and saw I already owned the audible. That being said, I started listening immediately and fell in love with Pike and Jordan’s story. The length of the novel fits perfectly for the appropriate build up of their intense attraction and enough angst that you feel antsy for their first kiss and touch but not so much that you feel like you’re on an emotional rollercoaster- it’s perfect. The epilogue also makes me very happy!!

💕💕 I was sucked in from the vey beginning 💕💕

Jordan and Cole’s forbidden love story captivated me from the beginning and kept me absorbed until the end. This was my first Penelope Douglas book and it won’t be my last. Perfectly written.

Sexy Romance!

This audiobook is about a college student who ends up moving into her boyfriend’s fathers house with him after they get evicted from their apartment. Jordan is attracted to his father Pike and after she catches him having sex with another girl, they break up. Suddenly it’s just Jordan and Pike alone in the house and things start to get complicated, because Pike wants her badly and is conflicted because of her age and that she’s his son’s ex-girlfriend. When things come to a head, Jordan leaves and Pike realizes that he can’t live without her. Narration was well done!
