Johnstone country. Shoot straight or die.

Thanks to a new line, the railroad has come to Chugwater, Wyoming, bridging the gap between the small town and the larger city of Cheyenne. Now, Duff MacCallister can transport his 250 Black Angus cattle herd with ease by Iron Horse instead of enduring a two-day traildrive. But the day after depositing $15,000 in his Cheyenne account, Duff learns that bank president Jeremy Brinks embezzled every cent - totalling $65,000 - and then, guilt-ridden, committed suicide.

Jeremy wasn't just Duff's banker, but his longtime friend. The widow Brinks doesn't believe her husband was a thief or that he killed himself. Duff agrees. And after getting an appointment as Territorial Marshal, he's aiming his barrel at putting every double-crossing lawman, red-handed outlaw, and corrupt businessmen he can rustle up behind bars - or six feet under....

Second Chances

Introducing new characters with unknown pasts was a new twist in the story. Savage Sunday was a theme of second chances in lessons of morality, kindness, and love. The villains were the most comical and inept gang of Johnstone’s stories.

Savage Sunday

Another Great book about Duff. This book has it all. Bank robberies. Train Robberies. Stage coach robberies. Duff is trying to catch the bad guys . It's full of action and adventure. It also is like a mystery. As in trying to figure out what happened to the bank president. Elmer and Megan also plays a big part in it. Along with the China man. The whole series is great and this book ranks right up there with the rest of them. I highly recommend this book. P.J. Ochlan does a great job narrating this book. He has the perfect voice for all the characters. If my review is any help will you please click on the helpful link below. Thank you

A great western with one problem

I really liked this book it is so much like the Republic westerns c.1940. Very formulaic is its story ark. It has one rather annoying problem. Its geographical placement is terrible, except for the description of Cheyenne c.1890 the rest of the communities mentioned are displaced on a map and their descriptions are completely wrong. Example Hillsdale is 17 miles East of Cheyenne you don’t travel through Hillsdale to get to Chugwater. As for Chugwater it was a “dry” town until well into the 1960’s. The land was granted to the township by The Swan Land and Cattle company they specified no saloons. It would seem the names were picked off of a map first and the description developed without any research. Since I live in Cheyenne, and my family has lived in Wyoming since the 1870’s these details are really distracting from an otherwise good story.
