Incredible narrator. The deep voice is so sexy.

Julie Johnstone writes incredible stories. Story kept me wanting to continue. LOVED IT and forwarded on to my friends. Tim Campbell's voice is incredible!!

The Course of True Love Never…

Never had to deal with characters as frustrating as these. Gosh! They’d might as well be preteens. At times I wanted to scream or even stop reading. HEA thankfully but one crisis after another, many contrived in their minds. Great writing but characters just too juvenile for my taste. Wonderful narrator.

A complicated romance of deceit, manipulation and anger

Asher and Guinevere are star crossed lovers who a secret enemy plots to keep apart. The story is a roller coaster of emotion, manipulation and the villain is deceptive. All the characters of the later stories are introduced in this book and Tim Campbell does an amazing job of voicing all the characters especially Asher’s brogue! You feel the h/h frustration and anger as they suspect they are being manipulated but their need to trust each other is constantly challenged and sometimes well meaning friends do damage. It’s a wild ride until the end.

Lady Guinevere was very naive

I read a review before I listened to the story and the reviewer said something along the lines of perfect example of trusting all the wrong people for no good reason. I agree with that review but it is a commen problem with historical Regency novels the heroine will just take the villains word and run with it even when given no good reason to trust them.

I didn’t see any of it coming.
Fantastic hero & heroine. Incredibly well developed secondary characters. Every character in the book was so well written. I am without words as to how outstanding this story is. And thank you Julie for choosing the one & only Tim Campbell to narrate. Drooling. So sexy. Loved it.

Love this author

I absolute love this author and Tim Campbell has the most delicious Scottish male voices. The story was very engaging and held my attention it had several plot twist that was very interesting. Great read. Steaminess 5 (1-10)

2nd time listening

It was just as good, maybe better,the 2nd time around. I love listening to Tim Campbell's brogue. The storyline kept my interest , even though I had heard it before...maybe I am just getting old! I will listen to the whole series again though.

Engaging story

Towards the end it did get frustrating that they liked then disliked each other. It felt repetitive.

How Many Times Do They Have to Make the Same Mistake?

Goodness! This couple suffers the same problem of mistrusting the right person and trusting the wrong person implicitly over and over and over ad nauseum. And the same Evil Meddler uses the same ploy every time. Think of Uncle Scar from Lion King telling Simba about all the reasons he shouldn't do something with the result being Simba doing exactly the ill-advised thing, which was Scar''s intent. In this case, Scar is the Hero's brother who wants something that isn't his. He sets in motion his Machiavellian scheme five years before the story begins. We begin with the H and h re-encountering each other after five years of both characters harboring righteous indignation and hurt from the way their romance ended, which unbeknownst to them, was orchestrated by the scheming brother who simultaneously manipulated five characters into acting out the roles he intended to cause the demise of the couple's blossoming romance. The story becomes chapter after chapter of the brother planting malicious seeds of doubt that get exactly the response he intended. There is episode after episode after dramatic episode of H and h having a chance to clear up past misunderstandings when, right on cue, malicious "Uncle Scar" plants the seeds of his made-up rumors and insinuation and everyone believes him without a second thought while easily mistrusting the person they love. The reader gets to experience supposedly intelligent, witty characters fall for the same ploy a RiDiCuLouS number of times.

I believe this story will be enjoyed by anyone who gets pleasure from self-flagelation. Others can give it a pass.
