Good story-so so reading

The story was good, but the reading was awkward and stilted in spots. Emphasis was placed on odd words throughout.

Dark and Disturbing, but Mesmerizing!

I think I’m starting to see a pattern here. Dr. Sara Linton and ex-husband police chief Jeffrey Tolliver can find trouble anywhere, even at the local small-town skating rink. An unbelievable tragedy occurs when one of Sara’s young teenage patients attempts to shoot another teen at the skating rink. This incident will bring horrific implications for Sara and Jeffrey that will reverberate for a long time.

As Jeffrey and his detective investigate, they uncover something much worse involving ugly secrets lurking in their small town. What they find is dark, incredibly dark, and hard to fathom.

Jeffrey and Sara’s relationship is once again an essential part of the narrative. Jeffrey is working hard to win her back, but it is always one step forward and two back. Their story is an odd mating dance; one reaches out, one pulls back. The other extends a hand, and the other slaps it. The reader is left wondering if there is any hope for these two.

This book is dreadfully uncomfortable, but it is mesmerizing. I am now totally invested in this series. I listened to this on Audible and find the narrator, Kathleen Early, does an excellent job. I gave it four frenetic stars.

Excellent narrator

I could listen to any book read by this voice. She could read me an instruction manual on how to install an air conditioner and I will be enraptured. She pulled me into the characters so well.

not the ending i expected

I think this book was very well written overall. It kept me on my toes waiting to see what would happen next.

I am a total fan of Karin Slaughter books but I have to say I was very disappointed with the ending.

With over 200-books in my audible library of a similar genre, this books really stands out. Very well written. Great twists.

I enjoy Karin Slaughter...

I’m new to Karin Slater and this is the third great book I have listened to. This was a little long winded at times but held my attention and exciting at others. Currently I’ve purchased a couple more. She is a great new thrill author.

Compelling, hard to stop listening, hard to continue because of content. Very well written and narrated.

Amazing Writing and true story telling

Recommend. But beware if easily triggered.
My second time listening to this book. Started the series over again last week. This book is terrifing because of the reality of its contents. Love all the characters and still was shocked by the ending.

Compelling story but not as interesting as some of the author’s other books. Worth the listen.
