He only looked away for a second.
Still haunted by the disappearance of his little sister, Amy, over 20 years ago, Joseph Bridgeman’s life has fallen apart. When a friend talks him into seeing hypnotherapist Alexia Finch to help with his insomnia, Joseph accidentally discovers he can time travel. His first trip only takes him back a few minutes, but his new-found ability gives him something he hasn’t felt for the longest time: hope.
Joseph sets out to travel back to the night Amy went missing and save her. But after several failed attempts, he discovers the farther back he travels, the less time he gets to stay there. And the clock is ticking.
With the help of Alexia, Joseph embarks on a desperate race against the past to save his sister. Can he master his new skill and solve the mystery of Amy’s disappearance before it’s too late?
Previously released as The Unexpected Gift of Joseph Bridgeman, this updated version includes extra chapters, new plotlines, and even deeper character development. It makes way for an expanded vision of the Joseph Bridgeman Series, with the first four books released in 2021 and 2022.

An Engaging Read

I was expecting a more serious story and I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of sad parts, but it doesn't hang over the whole story. I also think the author did a pretty accurate job portraying Joe's depression.
The narrator did a good job portraying all of the different characters, except the most important one. The story took place in England and everyone had an English accent, except Joe, who had an American accent. It made no sense and was just weird.
But other than that, I definitely recommend this for people looking for a light read!
Great story but didn't like narrator

This story turned out to be a way differ type of book than I was expecting after reading the description, but in a good way...
To start, Ray Porter, as always is amazing! His accents and ability to sound like a full cast of characters enhances ever story he reads... But, this story by itself was good regardless of the narrator.
The story starts a little slow and has a mildly somber tone. The adult son is suffering from insomnia, in financial trouble, and is trying to keep the family home. The elderly mother is in a care home with dementia type symptoms and the memory of a sister long gone hangs over the whole story... you would think that the story would be depressing but it isn't.
The main character decides to go to a therapist who decides to try hypnotherapy to help him with his insomnia, but after that things start 'happening'. Nothing too scary or too unbelievable, but it's very intriguing how the author weaves a bit of sci-fi in the middle of what is otherwise a normal interesting story..
Throughout the whole book I kept expecting some nefarious government drama to come up but it never does, thankfully. As the story nears the end and the big moment occurs.. logically it ties together most things except the one question of 'how'. Regardless, the ending is still satisfying and good.
I do have one recommendation, increase the speed of the narration by 1.5 to 2.25 times because the suspense scenes play better at that speed...IMHO
WOW! Super interesting!
