Acerca de esta escucha

So I might be pretty good at this hero business after all.

My name is Mal. Growing up in The City, I had been taught that a benevolent goddess protected us from the Demon Lord and his legion of horrors. But upon my exile, I learned the world was far larger and more wonderful than I could have ever imagined.

Now I’m a squire to Annowan, demon knight and heir to the Throne. I’m also married to an elf, and I have three more weddings waiting for me when I return to Babylon; Gilly the dragonkin, Thalie the orc, and Krencha the goblin are all eager to join my family and announce our intentions to topple The City to the entire empire.

But a new mission sends us to Dragon Port, Gilly’s hometown, a city ruled by greed and cutthroat politics. We need to access Velka’s Library, which belonged to Annowan’s long-lost mother and find clues on the Bitch Goddess’s remaining two generals and the dwarven king Reverkar.

I’ll need all my wits and skills to survive the library’s cursed and twisting corridors. But with my wonderful wives by my side, I’m sure we’ll succeed.

This book is intended for mature listeners due to descriptions of violence and unconventional relationships.

Great book but did find some parts boring and repetitive not much and the best part was for the demon knight to finally open up

Really good

I really like this book but at the same time we're starting to see consistently the exact same climax at the end of the story. You know where they sort of win but they didn't at the same time. And I'm really hoping that we really start to see some development with the main character's powers because hes still just kind of kind of there he helps but still being carried majority of the time.

Good but losing its luster

What a great continuation to an already excellent series. I have yet to read anything but this author that I haven’t like and this book was no exception. Keep up the great work!

Freaking great!

I was immediately hooked onto this series after the first book and the world was just so well built up after the second, which hurts to say, this has been so weak compared to the first two.
The female narrator does really well working with so many characters and giving them all different voices and personalities. The male narrator, however always feels like he has a smirk on his face. He reads depressing lines or somber moments with a laugh in his voice, following it up with weird guffaw sound when it really doesn't match the scene.

Pacing feels really off. Scenes will happen for a couple of lines and bam, we're onto the next with no lead-up or transition. It feels like the author is trying to hurry the story in a very inorganic way.
Krenshaw wore very thin on me in this book. Before she was the fighter. The one thirsting for battle. Somehow that makes Mal want to marry her? Someone who wants to die in glory? It doesn't make sense. Now that there are two fighters in the party, Krenshaw just doesn't have a point. Every time she opens her mouth, it's either "I want to kill" or "I want to die in glory". She has lost all sense of character. You could delete her from the book and lose next to nothing.

I want to finish the series, but my patience is wearing thin...

Pacing felt really weird.
