Dr. Keith Causey, retired professor of Wildlife Science at Auburn University, says, "Deer of both sexes and all ages leave a wide variety and a large amount of information for other deer in their geological locations at scrapes. Although most people believe that dominant bucks in an area utilize these signposting regions, other deer use these signposts too for information." In the chapter, "How to find Bucks at Scrape," Causey describes the best way to hunt a scrape. Brad Harrison of Neosho, Missouri, is a nationally-known videographer, professional deer hunter and master at calling deer. Another master is Will Primos of Primos Game Calls. These two experts will tell the best deer calls and when to use them in this book.

One question that's mystified deer hunters for many years, is how to know when bucks move. And for over 20 years, Bo Pitman, lodge manager of White Oak Plantation, has been studying deer movement patterns. He explains what types of conditions are best for predicting deer movement. How do you hunt deer in the snow? Norm LeBrun, of Quebec, Canada, a guide at Anticosti Island, hunts deer in the snow almost all year long and provides timely insights on how and where to take big bucks under these conditions. Eddie Salter lives in Alabama and Mark Drury in Mississippi, and these two master deer hunters give you hunting tips for when the weather is hot and for hunting in swamps.

Great info but horrible

Good book but hard listen. Guy can barely read at a 5th grade reading level.

Great info, valuable to the rookie or veteran hunter. Highly recommend, keeps you engaged. Would like to see a book, strictly covering deer behavior

Elementary

A book for a novice. Narration was terribly performed. Could not finish listening due to narrator.

Mostly about Bucks

This enumerates the finer points of finding and hunting big trophy bucks to the point I now understand and appreciate the appeal of the sport. If you just want to put meat on the table there is plenty of good advice but you can probably put it down about halfway through.

Love the info but....

This, along with all of John Phillips books are stocked full of great information and experiences from many experienced hunters, though the constant URL spouted off throughout is something I could have done without. Personally, one should be able to research from the information provided without all of that.

I got a buck while listening

this is a good book with a lot of good tips that you listen to the whole thing in its entirety will give you a good idea of different ways people hunt. I found the narrator good and relaxing and I was even listening to it in my deer stand when a nice 7 pointer came by. I was using some of the tips from the book to encounter this buck

Good read

Reads quick with lots of great information,tips and tricks for all weather and locations

I stopped after 2 chapters

Chapter 1 recommends how to use a GPS
Chapter 2 tells you how to ask permission to hunt

This is basic hunter’s Ed stuff. Not professional hunter information.

Narrator is not a good reader

The Narrator doesn’t read well, it is terrible. He doesn’t know when to put emphasis on a word or a phrase. He stumbles through the reading like a first grade student just learning to read.

Atrocious narration clouds the content

I believe the blame lies more with the "producer" or editor. No one talks this choppy. It's like bad text to speech from a mid 90's PC. Not a single sentence flows naturally. It's so distracting that you can't even pay attention to the content of the book. Perhaps that is the intent, because the author often repeats himself. I'd skip this one. There is more useful information available for free on youtube than this book has. Waste of money.
