The first novel in the Iron Druid Chronicles - introducing a cool, new, funny urban fantasy hero

Atticus O’Sullivan, last of the Druids, lives peacefully in Arizona, running an occult bookshop and shape-shifting in his spare time to hunt with his Irish wolfhound. His neighbors and customers think that this handsome, tattooed Irish dude is about twenty-one years old - when in actuality, he’s twenty-one centuries old. Not to mention: He draws his power from the earth, possesses a sharp wit, and wields an even sharper magical sword known as Fragarach, the Answerer.

Unfortunately, a very angry Celtic god wants that sword, and he’s hounded Atticus for centuries. Now the determined deity has tracked him down, and Atticus will need all his power - plus the help of a seductive goddess of death, his vampire and werewolf team of attorneys, a bartender possessed by a Hindu witch, and some good old-fashioned luck of the Irish - to kick some Celtic arse and deliver himself from evil.

Couldn't put it down!

This book was great. I especially enjoyed the relationship between Atticus and Oberon. The whole thing was action-packed and full of bitingly witty banter between characters. Definitely worth my time.

$6.99 What a deal!!!!

I paid one of my credits, but it was worth it! Now it is an even better buy! I normally lean toward sci-fy but I have to say I really enjoyed the characters in this series. And Luke Daniels is the right narrator for this book. If you are looking for something different and fun then you will want to pick up this series.

Excellent Book

I loved this book. It has great characters and a storey line that never gets boring. The main characters sense of humour and his dog oberon had me laughing out loud. I highly recommend this book.

good story with good mythology

I really did like this story and the narrator. the only thing I didn't like was the intro and ending music because the Mexican style guitar didn't fit the Celtic feel of the story. it just seemed an odd and unfitting choice for a book about a Celtic druid. I only harp on this so much because that music is the first thing you hear and it's supposed to set the tone for the book and it was really out of place and failed to set the right tone. aside from that my only other complaint is that I don't like the narrator's voice or tone for the dog. every time I heard him speak in the dogs voice I didn't imagine a telepathic Irish wolfhound, I just imagined an annoying guy making a goofy voice trying to make himself sound like what he thinks a cartoon dog should sound like, like Scooby doo or something. other than that I really liked the story and all the mythology weaved through it and I think the main character was likable and the narrator's voice was a good fit for him. I like the character of his dog too, I just didn't like the way he portrayed the dogs voice. I do think this book 8s worth a listen. I liked it enough that im going to buy the next book

Wonderful read. I loved it.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Hounded?

The main characters are intrigueing. There is humor.

What does Luke Daniels bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The narrator brings the characters to life and gives them personality.

Any additional comments?

Kevin Hearne is now on my list of author to always read. He puts so much personality in his books.

reader is a little flat

i read this book a few months ago and really enjoyed it so i thought id give the audible version a try. I found the reader a little flat but really liked how he voiced Oberon. As the book goes on he does get better. Seems to become more comfortable in the role of Atticus . I enjoyed the story- full of mythology and alot of fun. I have already downloaded the second book.

Older than Jesus and shares a Beer with him!

A combination of the somewhat weird and normal country US living, blended together to set a world where almost nothing is impossible including a 2100 year old Druid with his life extended and very funny back chatting Dog.

The combination of characters and story line could have gone wrong, but it didn't. Very good story line, well told, with enough quirk and humor to make this good listing,

There are several books in this series and this first book is a very good read and leads you into the following book exceedingly well.

Hanging out for the next book.

enjoyable genre book

Assuming that you already read the synopsis of this book, then there's not much I can tell you other than expect a fun, funny listen. I'd compare the book to something like the Dresden books, but with more mythology and a more lighthearted hero. The plot isn't exactly ground-breaking, or less than predictable, but the characters make it worth a listen. On the other hand, most of the book is just wondering how Atticus is going to beat the various foes set against him, not any concern that he might not succeed. Also, it's a little hard to be too worried about him even in the big confrontation when he has a certain agreement with the death goddess. I mean, still fun, but not exactly a nail-biter.

The narrator did a great job and never stumbled over odd Celtic names.
