In this third installment of Fate of The Furycks, Rayne continues Jael & the Furycks' storylines filled with action, drama, suspense, and tragedy. The world & character building is, as always, top notch.
I read the book first, but foe me, it lacked the punch I typically get when listening to it. This was the case for Home of The Hunted. The audiobook took me there. I was standing next to Jael. Winced at pain of Thorgil's hug. Held my breath with Edela's power. Internally shook with feared anticipation on the wall waiting for the attack. Well done, Caren Naess. Took me till now to get used to your style, but here we are. *shrugs shoulders*
What I love about A.E. Rayne books is every single one (except for Kings of Fate), in her 16 book catalog, is always an epic adventure with a non-stop, 15+ hour rollercoaster ride from beginning to end.
The only thing that seems to be a consistent is how feebly the some of strong antagonists unalive. Although I'm happy they're no longer a factor, the scene in the book that gets us to this is anticlimactic. And yes, I'm still not over Ivar's death. Iykyk. I remain vigilant he could've been the redemption character missing from the Furyck line. Or he could've been unalived nobly in Fate of The Furycks.
Anywho, this is supposed to be a review, not a love letter to the author. So, HOTH has so many elements that left me gobsmacked. I literally had my mouth hanging a few times. AND THAT ENDING?!?! WTF?!?! YOU CANNOT DO THAT TO ME!! My little heart can't take it. TG, 12/10 is around the corner. The kid will be put to bed early so mama can read!
