I loved everything about this booktge writer is a GREAT story tellerI hate that it ended 😔 however I have more stories to escape to

Vampire

Out of the three stories I liked the first one the best. The other two seemed repetitive. First time I have read vampires in the highlands

Meh.

I’m really starting to hate this narrator, the way she reads female characters makes them all sound laughably stupid. I’ve listened to many, many books with this narrator and she always reads the women with this horrid, childish voice with a stilted.

I’m rarely this hard on narrators because I know they may read reviews but I cannot hold back any longer. This narrator is the worst I’ve heard and I have hundreds of audio books in my library.

Several great stories on this collection

Enjoy all the writing from these authors. I thought the stories must be great. I was so right. This book will be in my must read again collection. Actually it's must listen to again. The narration is excellent with Scottish voices.

Not as good as the rest of the series

I just couldn’t engage
The characters were not very compelling
The narrator was very good though

Raleigh’s story is the goodie in this bunch

I didn’t care enough for “Kiss of the Vampire” by Hannah Howell to stick with it so jumped to story 2 after just a couple chapters. I guess I only really like Howell’s Wherlocke series as everything else I’ve tried by her I’ve quit.

I was turned off by “His Eternal Bride” by Adrienne Basso and jumped ahead as soon as she met him outside the privy. I am not a prude but geez, were we supposed to like “slutty Elvira’s” introduction? Bleerg.

At that point I almost quit then but decided to try the Raleigh’s “To Tame the Beast” just to be able to give a full review. So glad I did. It was sweet, and has made me want to look for more by Raleigh.

The narrator didn’t grow on me so much as become inevitable, but I can’t say I’ll be deliberately seeking her out again, or that I won’t be discouraged against another book with her as narrator. I felt her accent was too heavy and overblown, trying too hard; and occasionally leant closer to Jamaica more than Scotland. I will give it to her that her old woman voice was good, and she did do better when she had better writing to work with (Raleigh’s).

Three different stories

So this book contained three different stories about highlanders who were vampires. I liked all three stories and really don’t have a favorite.

3 very tasty vampire stories

Only the first story is about a McNachton Vampire. It is very interesting continuing the McN storyline that started in booķ one. I would love to see the condo’s underground in a cave for the Purebloods. is a new twist. The second story is a general vampire story, nothing unexpected but it is quite entertaining. The final story is a mix mash of a cursed beast, a vampire, and a Lady. There’s betrayal, murder, need for revenge, a curse, redemption, true love, sacrifice, new life, and hea. Really satisfying.

while all the stories on their own were good, I expected they would interrelate in some way. I'm mildly confused as to why they were put together as each is so completely different. That said they were all good on their own merit
