The Spear of Lugh, one of the four Kingly Hallows of Ireland is in Chicago. And everyone, everyone wants it, for it is said that he who carries the spear into battle cannot be defeated. Among those who seek it are an agent of the infamous Wild Hunt; a mobster who knows far more about these things than he should; and of course both the Seelie and Unseelie Courts - the last people PI Mick Oberon would want getting hold of the spear....

Old school gumshoe with a fae twist

Mick: “Having second thoughts?”
Ramona: “Mick, I passed second so long ago, by now I’m into double digits.”
The magic was mostly window dressing for this classic mystery: think Maltese Falcon, but instead the search is for a magical artifact.

Mick: “He was smug, smarmy, and, I dunno, some other word that started with sm.”
A detective, a dame, and plenty of wiseguys went down the usual road of double crosses and shenanigans. Like the first book, the F bombs were unnecessary, and frankly out of place, but mostly disappeared by the midpoint. It’s on the shallow end, could use some work on the romantic chemistry, and could have used more magic and creature variety. Still, it moved quickly and was entertaining.

It's a good thing Sound Booth offers titles for free

Sound booth pics good titles to bring to life and their actors are good but the constant undercurrent of strident noise… Traffic sounds, car horns honking at different intervals and volume, characters grunting or making other sounds that in moderation add to the story but it's overdone and becomes so irritating it's almost impossible to enjoy the story.
I'm not sure if the ones I've listened to are over directed or poorly produced but there are also seems to be a reverb or a better term, auto tune aspect to it that just detracts from the vocal talent because it becomes so prevalent that you can't notice anything else.
