The Christian life is built on three seemingly unremarkable practices: reading the Bible, prayer, and fellowship with other believers. However, according to David Mathis, such "habits of grace" are the God-designed channels through which his glorious grace flows - making them life-giving practices for all Christians.

great intro to habits of grace (spir. disciplines)
Mathis does a great job of having the correct perspective and emphasis in this book - that is grounding everything in scripture, and doing all to the glory of God. this was much better than Foster's "celebrating discipline".

Refreshing and Scriptural
This book cuts through legalism and works-based faith and presents living unto the LORD as joy and a heart-believing calling for those who have trusted Christ as their LORD and Savior. "Therefore there is now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus." Scripture reference upon scripture is presented to support the teaching. I will listen again.

Applicable, sustainable, and encouraging
Very much like reading Donald S. Whitney’s Spiritual Disciplines for the Christian Life, except in a more compact form. In fact, passages from that book were incorporated throughout that made this book an absolute delight and great refresher!
