Acerca de esta escucha

A movement seeks to redefine Christianity. Some think that it is a much-needed progressive reformation. Others believe that it is an attack on historic Christianity.

Alisa Childers never thought she would question her Christian faith. She was raised in a Christian home, where she had seen her mom and dad feed the hungry, clothe the homeless, and love the outcast. She had witnessed God at work and then had dedicated her own life to leading worship as part of the popular Christian band ZOEgirl. All that was deeply challenged when she met a progressive pastor who called himself a hopeful agnostic.

Another Gospel? describes the intellectual journey Alisa took over several years as she wrestled with a series of questions that struck at the core of the Christian faith. After everything she had ever believed about God, Jesus, and the Bible had been picked apart, she found herself at the brink of despair...until God rescued her, helping her to rebuild her faith, one solid brick at a time.

In a culture of endless questions, you need solid answers. If you or someone you love has encountered the ideas of progressive Christianity and aren’t sure how to respond, Alisa’s journey will show you how to determine - and rest in - what’s unmistakably true.

Fantastic book. Easy read. Very straight forward and to the point. I found her declarative statements refreshing, there's no beating around the bush, which makes it easier for the reader to remember her apologetic teachings. A true cautionary tale on why we must know what we believe and how to defend it!

Fantastic! I learned so much!

This book takes the reader (or listener) on a guided tour of Mrs Childers having her faith deconstructed by a progressive ministers 'select study class'... Her search for answers to questions she never expected to be hit with in church... And her journey back to an even stronger faith.

This book can help anyone who is dealing with doubts in their faith, or that knows someone who is.

Alisa does a fantastic job of narrating this book.

Really enjoyed this book.

Alisa Childers does a wonderful job of giving us a front row seat into her journey of doubt to faith in this biblically sound book. I think everyone who calls themselves a Christian would benefit if they would take the time to read or listen to this book. I didn’t have a very good understanding of the progressive Christians I kept running into on social media, but now I have a greater understanding of what they believe and a better understanding of how to talk to them. Although much of the material covered I have heard before the front row seat into her journey made it fresh and exciting as if I was hearing it for the first time.
Thank you Alisa!

This is a thorough and thoughtful rebuttal of the false teachings that have been embraced by Progressive “Christians”. Alisa uses scripture and logic to gently and lovingly correct these teachings that are opposed to the true Gospel and championed by the culture. I highly recommend this book!

Excellent!

This is a great intro to Church history and apologetics. I wish I had a book like this when I was a teenager and young adult. All "church kids" should read this before heading off to college.

know what you believe!

I love this book and the beautiful and honest narration by the author of an encounter that nearly shipwrecked her faith. While the anguish she endured is palpable, I hate to admit I'm glad it happened to this extraordinary woman! Because the fruit of that suffering is this remarkable story and a voice that is sensible & wise, clear & kind, beautiful & fearlessly Christian. Thank You, Alisha Childers!

Clear & personally poignant apologetics

This book is a must-read for anyone struggling with - or confronted with - progressive Christianity. Part spiritual autobiography, part apologetics armory, this is such a well-thought-out and well-written work. It was so engaging that I finished my first reading in a day, yet so filled with excellent information that I am looking forward to reading it again and again.

this is a well done book from someone who has been in the trenches of doubt. Being in the trenches myself (for close to a year) I can relate to her story and all of the wrestling she had to go through when the questions rocked her world. Good summary of the movement called "progressive christianity". while I think questions are critical to a deep faith, Alisa rightly articulates that the focus on the questions themselves and a lack of aim in the deconstruction leads to dangerous territory. we all ought to deconstruct false images and views about God, but it seems much of progressive Christianity has swerved into a ditch.

I will make a comment about the last two chapters on hell and PSA. I would love to see Alisa wrestle with the likes of Brad Jersak and Robin Parry on PSA (particularly the penal part) and Hell. I think these two, along with many others such as Ilaria Ramelli from an academic perspective have formulated formidable and we'll articulated biblical grounds for a hope in universal restoration. these have a high respect for the Biblical text and I think demonstrate that there are better answers to the Hell question than what progressive Christianity has to offer. Others include George Sarris, David Artman, and Peter Hiett.

Beyond that, I am thankful for a sister in Christ to lay out a very well done book confronting the myth that deconstruction ends necessarily in a loss of all things sacred. sometimes we must go through it, but God is able to reconstruct us to a deeper confidence in Himself than we were before.

very good and grounded
