Acerca de esta escucha

When a game of seduction between a husband and wife ends in death, the nightmare has only just begun in this sinister twist on a bedtime story - a number-one national best seller and "one of Stephen King's best" (USA Today).

Gerald and Jessie Burlingame have gone to their summer home on a warm weekday in October for a romantic getaway. After being handcuffed to her bedposts, Jessie tires of her husband's games, but when Gerald refuses to stop, the evening ends with deadly consequences. Still handcuffed, Jessie is trapped and alone.

Over the next 28 hours, in the lakeside house that has become a prison, Jessie will come face to face with all the things she has ever feared. Her only company is a hungry stray dog and the various voices that fill her mind. As night comes, she is unsure whether it is her imagination or if she has another companion: someone watching her from the corner of her dark bedroom.

A master of his craft, Stephen King's novels haunt in many different ways. Gerald's Game "kept us up half the night, we couldn't put it down" (Newsweek).

S K @ his best. Love the way it ties to Dolores Claiborne!

Ms. Crouse does an incredible job of narrating. All of this book's intensity is communicated to we faithfully constant readers.
BRAVO, Mr King...

Awesome Listen!

What made the experience of listening to Gerald's Game the most enjoyable?

Lindsay Crouse understands what it takes to make Stephen King sound like pure poetry!. A gripping and engaging story that keeps you wanting more and this will always remain a favorite King book of mine.

What other book might you compare Gerald's Game to and why?

Lindsay Crouse also does a beautiful job with Misery and that is similar.

Which scene was your favorite?

Too many for just one, but the dog sticks out. And Jesse's inner monologue is always geat.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I wish I could have!

Music?

I enjoyed the story, and the narration except for the slightly jarring, out-of-place musical interludes.

King kills

Fantastic novel by King. I wanted to read the story before watching the film on Netflix and boy was I glad I did. The movie was good but the book is just so much better. You feel the state of helplessness and madness in the book more. Do yourself a favor and pick up this gem before watching. If you have already seen the movie and liked it then you will love this audio book batter.

the performance was so bad, dead voice

Had the reading been better and some infliction in the voice I may have had a better over all rating. Stephen King is a favorite, although the performance killed this presentatuon.

What ever happened to Stephen King?

Essentially Stephen King books were the first fiction novels I had read. I remember seeing the Salem’s Lot paperback in the grocery store. It was shiny black and a girls outline embossed in the cover. What really stood out was the single red drop of blood on her sharpened canine tooth. After that book I was hooked and read everything he wrote from 1978 to 1998. What does that have to do with Gerald’s Game you ask?

Without giving away any spoilers all I can say is that the blame for this catastrophe of a story falls squarely on three sets of shoulders. First is the reader who’s forced and vapid style did nothing to help the story and was tiresome to listen too. Next in line is the producer in no small part for hiring the reader in the first place but much more for the God awful sound effect that would randomly appear. All in all the worst production of an unabridged novel I’ve ever heard.
Lastly I can’t help but wonder what would have happened to Stephen King if this was his first novel. I can’t imaging that a major publisher would pick this story up let alone actually publish it.
The above is just my personal opinion and I realize that I didn’t go into any detail of why I thought so lowly of the novel but in my defense I’m writing this on my iPhone and it is very tedious to write anything longer than this. In the end I’ll just say this, I have read or listened to a significant part of Stephen King’s body of work and like most it, loved much of it but this is one of those rare creatures where the movie is actually better than the book. Buyer beware...

This book is great! Love the suspense and chills it made me feel. Very graphic and descriptive.

The music is terrible

The narration is fine. However, the audiobook periodically plays inane and distracting musical interludes which draw the reader out of the story. It drags down the performance significantly, especially when you can’t hear what’s being said. Not only that, but even at 2x speed the interludes are long, which makes it more egregious. I don’t know if this is just a thing with this particular narrator (Lindsay Crouse’s reading of Misery does the same thing) or if this company just does it this way. It’s annoying beyond any words could describe
