Excellent start to this new series!!! I'm in!!

Forbidden Magic, an Audiobook by Anya Cosgrove is the fascinating, spellbinding story of Cole and Jules. We also have Flynn and Trent in the mix. Cole is the dark fae prince. Jules is a mortal who enters the academy…after years of mortals being denied entrance. Immediately, she is bullied by just about everyone….they want her to leave.

While presented as a reverse harem, it doesn’t really seem to be….or if it is, the other potentials are quite mild. I’m actually glad because I don’t care much for RH…and probably wouldn’t have picked this up had I known that. Nevertheless, ends in a cliffhanger and I am soooooooooo eager to see where it leads!!!

This Audiobook was narrated by Addison Barnes who does an incredible performance of the story and its characters!!! Excellent!!!

Mediocre but interesting story

I read the entire series. the story is interesting enough and very fast paced. Maybe too fast. it's lacking in details and the there is little to no worlds building. The writing style is immature and crass with a lot of cringy language. Not adult spice just yucky. The narrator is very good though.

Hooked out the gate!

Absolutely loved this book can't wait to listen to the rest of the series!! I'll definitely be listening to this 1 again!

Forbidden Magic!

This is the first story in the "Dark Falls Academy" series. It does have a small cliffhanger like ending but it was worth the read/listen. It is a young adult paranormal read that is interesting and intriguing with some dark aspects. I thought the plot was good and the narration done well.

A Nice Surprise

This was good, honestly I picked this up because it wasn’t a reverse harem academy romance (there are so many of those and I honestly don’t like them much) but still featured other men as characters. Next I like Addison Barnes, her male voices do not sound like an obvious woman lol and her cadence is good.

If you like magic in a university setting, a heroine who doesn’t yield even when she’s not the most powerful, and fae princes you’ll like this. There were definitely some times I was frustrated when Jules continually was weak against fae glamour but I did see some growth. I also wish there were more hot moments with the prince, they all came at the end!

There’s some mystery elements to the story and I’m excited to see where this goes.

Book 2 is going to take a while, if you read these Ms. Cosgrove please make book 2 on audible and come out in October like the kindle version! :-)

Captivating first book in the series!

This was my first Anya J Cosgrove's book, and won't be my last. This is the first book in the Dark Falls Academy Series, a Fantasy Romance. Jules and Cole's enemies-to-lovers romance is entertaining. Jules, a Winslow witch, is sassy, strong, and smart. Cole, the dark Fae Prince, is enigmatic, and very handsome. They are both very interesting characters. The world building is complex, and captivating. The story is set in the Dark Falls Academy, the most prestigious school in the three realms, where the mortals are trying to survive while mingling with immortals (vampire, fae, and mermaids). The story is well written, fast paced, and captivating, filled with danger, magic, secrets, mystery, and twists and turns. The supporting characters are interesting. I liked Jules's sister, her father, Flynn (the cruel bully), and Trent (the thirsty vampire). The story ends with a big cliffhanger, and I am looking forward to listening to the next book in the series. Addison Barnes did an excellent job with the narration. She has a beautiful voice, very pleasant to listen to. Looking forward to listening to Wicked Prince, the next book in the series. a new to me author did a good job and the narration also drew me in. That cliffhanger has me wanting the next book.

Excellent! Good story line and characters. It kept me engaged and wanting more. I am looking forward to the next book.

Protecting her sister

This is the first book in the series and is a standalone story of Jules who is human and going to a school with paranormal students. Her sister started before her by 3 months and when they meet again, Jules notices something is wrong with her. Humans are not wanted in this school, and she must endure their bullying and taunts. She has been told never make a deal with the Fae but in order to find answers she does. Now she must beat her nemesis or drop out.

Great story, not super fond of the main characters.

I really thought the overall idea of this story was unique. I enjoyed the plot, and how it was more than just a romance story. The magic system was unique. But not as fleshed out as it could have been. I found the main character to be annoying. It was also difficult to tell how old she was meant to be. The book kept making references to middle school, and immature behavior. Leading me to believe it was a high school, but I think it is supposed to be a college. It's very unclear.
