Loved

This was such an emotional story- totally captivated in the story of Emmet and Tatum.
I loved the way the story was told in a then and now timeline. The present timeline is heartbreak as they are navigating tragedy and divorce. Jewel E. Ann always brings such a captivating story and this one will stay with me for a long time. Highly recommend this book.

Narration is done by Connor Crais. He is incredible voicing the emotions and feelings of the book.

Great story and great performance. Really fell in love with the main character and his plight. Great ending.

How strong love can be

What a wonderfully, sweet but sad story. I love her writing. Can’t wait to start another one.

Great story but

Tatum is a raging, irredeemable, emotionally immature, you know what. My god, I can’t remember the last time I met a character so unlikable. I get it. Grief does funny things and hits people in different ways, but my god she is insufferable. The only reason I don’t feel bad about characterizing her this way is because she was bratty, condescending, and self righteous even before the event.

I do not want to give away any part of this story. Go in blind. The author can write an incredible, amazing story. A very happy ending.

My thoughts:
I’ve held onto this one for what feels like forever, waiting for the day I’d be brave enough to press play. I knew it would break me in the best and worst ways and I wasn’t wrong. This story is devastatingly beautiful; a raw, unrelenting rollercoaster of emotions that I haven’t been able to shake, even days later.

This isn’t just a story; it’s an experience. It digs deep into the complexities of love in all its forms, the relentless pull of dedication, the suffocating weight of grief, and the extraordinary, almost unimaginable lengths we go to as parents. There’s a truth here that you can’t fully grasp until you’ve lived it. The joy, the devotion, the heartbreak so profound it feels like it’s tearing you apart. This story knows that pain, and it lays it bare.

Then there’s Connor who doesn’t just perform this story, he becomes it. His delivery is heartbreakingly perfect. Raw, tender, and unflinchingly real. Every layer of emotion is stripped down to its essence, so much so that it feels like he’s handing you his soul on a platter. At this point I’ve listened to tons of his works, but this one? This one is unforgettable. It’s not just in my top three performances of all time, it’s etched into my heart.

If you’re ready to face a story that possibly might shatter you, stitch you back together, and leave you contemplating your priorities in life, I definitely recommend this and that you go in blind. Just be prepared to feel everything.

Emotional book but so fantastic

I am a parent that has gone through this (don't want to spoil) This brought tears, happiness and joy, plus a ton of previous emotions. however, I couldn't quit listening. it's a beautiful story of the love in a family.
I typically don't listen to single narration, but it's Connor Crais. He did such an amazing job on this book. I would give 10 stars if I could.

Connor does not disappoint!

I went into this book expecting a heavy, emotional romance, but I wasn’t prepared for how much Connor’s voice would pull me in. From the very first chapter, he is Emmett—his pain, his love, his regret, his longing. He doesn’t just read the story; he lives it. His performance brings depth and raw emotion to the story, making it even more impactful.

Emmett, is a complex character—brooding, deeply wounded, and filled with love that he doesn’t quite know how to express. Connor captures all of this beautifully. His voice has the perfect balance of strength and vulnerability, making you feel every bit of Emmett’s pain, regret, and love for Lucy and Tatum.

You know those moments in a book where the main character is breaking down, and you feel it in your chest? That’s what Crais does with Emmett. There are scenes where his voice gets just the right amount of raw—like he’s barely holding it together—and it’s heart-wrenching in the best way.

The way he shifts from Emmett’s pain to the absolute tenderness in his voice when talking to Lucy? Melt-your-heart levels of beautiful. It makes Emmett’s love for his daughter feel even more real.

I went into For Lucy expecting an emotional story, but Connor’s narration elevated it to another level. He made me feel every ounce of Emmett’s love, pain, and hope. If you’re on the fence about the audiobook—don’t be. His performance is everything, and it made this book an unforgettable experience.
