Unimaginably Brilliant & Heartbreaking

I have read or listened to all of Jewel E Ann’s books. I definitely have my favorites but without a doubt the stories in all of them are so good, definitely thought provoking and always tugging on an emotional string. This book, omg this book just about did me in. I can’t remember the last time I ugly cried as much as I did. JEA’s writing is realistic, fresh, funny but so much more. Really a gift for all of us as readers/listeners. I loved every chapter, line, minute of this story even the ones most soul crushing. I cannot recommend this book enough (except you most certainly will need a box of tissues to get thru) but don’t let that be a deterrent because the story continues and our hearts are held in reverent hands!

Narration made this story come alive. Avie Paige was amazing as Scottie and Jay Myers was truly spectacular as both Price and Koen. Both narrators provided all their characters with unique voices and gave so much to the emotional ranges expressed in the book. Bravo for making a spectacular book even more compelling.

Beautifully written.

This story truly makes you stop and think. And that is exactly what I did; this story was different and I loved it.

Loved the entire story. Laughed, cried, got angry, Everything that a good book should include.

So relevant in our times.

What a great book! Devoured it in a day! It’s been a long time since a book captured me so.

Male Narrator Yay, Female Narrator Nay…

The female narrator was not for me. I wish I would have just read the book instead but audiobooks are most convenient for me. I had a difficult time enjoying the story because of that.

Live simply and enjoy every moment if possible

Cancer sucks but it can bring beauty and a better perspective of the Big Picture of life & living it to its fullest

Female narrator is not my favorite

The story was great, the male narrator was good. The female narrator was distractingly bad.

Which I didn't go into this book blind

I went into this book blind, and I wish I hadn’t. I would have avoided it if there had been a content warning. While this might not bother some readers, I personally don’t want to encounter certain heavy topics in my romance books.

The story revolves around three main characters: Price (34), Scottie (31), and Koen. Price and Scottie dated 12 years ago, but now he’s back in her life just as she’s started dating Koen. From the setup, I assumed this might lead to either a love triangle or a throuple dynamic, but it was neither.


As for the “big twist” regarding Price’s life—it left me giving him a major side-eye.

While I won’t spoil the rest, this book just didn’t work for me. Between the unexpected heavy themes (cancer) and the character dynamics, it wasn’t the romantic escape I was hoping for.

Female narrator 🤮

I can’t explain it, but it nearly ruined the book for me. One hyper specific example I can give is that she pronounces “goals” as “gulls”. She speaks through her nose and sounds like she talks through her teeth
