As the numbers of infected grow, the battalion loses control, and the soldiers find themselves fighting for their lives against the very people they once swore an oath to protect. During the ensuing collapse, the lost battalion learns the Army is still holding out in Florida, which has been cleared of the infected. Harry Lee, its commander, decides the only hope for his men is to get there.

This is one of the best books I have had the pleasure of listening to! And I have listened since this service first started. Just checked almost 500 books damn lol
This author was new to me and I really enjoyed how the story flowed. I did not want to stop listening.

Far from predictable
I hesitated initially because I felt the culminations would be predictable. I bought in because of R.C. Bray, my narrator of choice. The stories and their endings were shocking and exciting every time. Heroes make you feel good and there are plenty of heroes in this series. Never dull, these stories move quickly. I am currently checking out DiLouie's other works.

Enjoyed listening to this!
The story is pretty straight forward, but lots of action and suspense makes this an enjoyable listen. R.C. Bray's excellent narration of course contributes significantly to making it so. The six books hold the fictional account of a submarine officer and his adventures in the Pacific in World War II. Sometimes a bit over the top what Charlie sees and does, but generally believable.
