Acerca de esta escucha

Sink 'Em All was originally published in 1951 by Vice Admiral Charles A. Lockwood, the US Navy commander of the Pacific submarine fleet during World War II.

Lockwood, in his leadership role, knew the skippers and crews of the submarines and retells their wartime successes and tragedies with an intimacy and realism often missing in second-hand accounts. Lockwood also recounts his efforts to improve the provisions and after-patrol accommodations of the submariners and of his on-going struggle to improve the effectiveness of torpedoes and other tools vital to the war effort.

The Damage of War

This book sheds light on the everyday men and women you heroically stepped up in a time of need. The imprint of war is never forgotten.

A history buff’s delight

This book is for, primarily, die hard US Navy Pacific Theater history buffs. Chocked full of detail with a rather dead pan, “just the facts ma’am” delivery, it is really, really good. The bravery of the men involved is articulated, to be sure with some prejudice, in such a fashion as to bring forth a tear now and then. I confess, I loved the book.

Good story and too much detail in places.

Overall, a good detailed story. Too much detail about tonnage of ships sank and last few chapters expose a racism not tolerated in today's world. Was written in early 1950s and reflects time of its origin.

Great Compilation

Admiral Lockwood gives a blow by blow of the Submarine Story in WWII. He has added much background of the Skippers and other hero's along with his considered views of several logistical and political issues of the war. Mentions many or the boats and captains about whom there have been individual books published.

One of the best accounts of the war with Japan

This is a must read for anyone with any interest in the naval war with Japan. Lockwood was a brilliant man who took the time to document everything he did and everywhere he went and everything he saw. I have a pretty large collection of Audible books so I seldom reread anything but this one will come out of mothballs in a few months and I will enjoy it again.

Great info

After having read several World War II submarine novels which covers patrols in detail, I find this book does a great job giving an excellent overview of the whole submarine service during World War II. It also gives brief details about certain submarine actions. It is a great book for submariners who would like to learn more about the submarine heritage.

Reader

For the most part it is great. As a Submarine Sailor I found the pronunciation of the boat names and location names very distracting.
Mare Island is pronounced like female horse, Barbel is like the weight device. I had to replay many sections to catch the correct boat names.

Very Good inside story of our Sub Service

If I would have dad to serve in WW2, I could only HOPE to have as competent Commander as Charles Lockwood!
