Great Story with a Bad Twist

This story is really good and engaging, and what it does with the characters in term of development and arcs in incredibly entertaining. It's everything you'd want from the third book in this series, expanding the world and characters in interesting and logical ways while creating a good and immersive story. It's basically perfect...except for the twist at the end. Honestly, Castle, why?? Its so dumb, completely retcons THE ENTIRE BOOK, and ruins ALL of the character development up to this point, and it's all for a justification that seriously wasn't even needed!

Still, the rest of the book is great, so if you can ignore the weird out-of-time chapters from Alice, it's worth the read.

Holy Crap

Can't say I ever saw that ending coming. Definitely gives food for thought, and makes one wonder about the MC's motivations throughout the series.

Really hoping for the next one

I personally really enjoyed the story and the plot twist at the end of this book despite what I am seeing from other people in the comments. Jack has a lot of responibility on his shoulders and I hope both him, and his Deathlord character side get some form of completion and closure. I really am hoping that we will be getting the next book at somepoint if and when its ready. Keep up the awesome and great work Edward :)

Great narrator, amazing characters, superb storytelling. An all around great listening experience.

Great book, don't understand the hate.

At times the story was a bit all over the place and failed to keep my attention but in general it's a great book. And I'm a sucker for dark plot twists like the movie Upgrade or The Mist and don't need happy endings to enjoy a good story, so I thought the ending was great. I actually like bad endings since they feel more real to me. They evoke a far stronger emotional reaction and thus stay with me rather than the usual "oh that's nice" and forget about it I get from common happy endings that feel more like wishful thinking than actual endings. The author could leave it here and wouldn't be angry at how it ended, but I think he has more to tell us about this world and I look forward to discovering what that is.

I liked the blending of fantasies and real life for this story and hope it continues through the next books.

great addition to a great series

Everything you could hope for in a third book. It always kept me guessing and truly surprised me throughout. The narrator/audio direction really impressed me, they stepped up their game in ways that I normally would have found irritating in other series. I cannot wait to see where the story goes from here.
