Ultimate Lovecraft Collection from HPLHS

If you enjoy reading horror fiction, HPL is a must read. The folks at HPLHS have put everything together in one place with this excellent compendium of his works. I'm a writer, who read HPL way back in high school. I noticed that there is a trend in modern horror to lean heavily on Lovecraft's work and decided I better get a refresher. This collection has everything; all the works, professional production and enthusiastic narration. Whether you are hearing HPL for the first time, looking for great stories and themes (you will see copied in countless later films & books) or getting a refresher - this collection is the way to go.

This collection is phenomenal, huge, and every segment is read most articulately and dramatic and fantastic, and this is the version you MUST have in your collection!

Not all of H.P. Lovecraft's work

This is a wonderful collection, but it does not include any of H.P. Lovecraft's ghostwritten stories. (The Mound, The Horror in the Museum, etc.) Many of which fit into the mythos very well.

great storytelling had just the right amount of creepiness. and just the right amount of suspense.

Great Collection, Semi-Flat Narration

Great stories/collection! Readers are passionate off the head introducing the material, but when reading the stories seem to have a more flat tone. Sound levels varied depending on who was reading, this lead me to listen to this collection in between other books instead of straight through. Happy I have this full collection. Just found the small things distracting at times, instead of being more engaging.

Absolutely Great

Love their performance. The intro was also a nice touch. We get to learn a little backstory and get to know the Narrators. Since they have an acting background their performance is very good. I feel like some audiobook narrators are so bland and boring and you lose interest in the stories. Not the case here. They keep me intrigued the whole time. It’s like your uncle or dad telling you a scary story around the campfire. I love it! Great job guys!

Essential collection for Lovecraft fans

Great collection and narration. I only wish the stories had been arranged in chronological order, so it would be easier to appreciate how Lovecraft’s writing and mythos evolved.

The narration for these stories is perfect. I love the drama and hearing Lovecraft’s terrorized protagonists in the narrators voice. They do an amazing job, and obviously the short stories are perfect.

Fans of any kind of fiction should listen.

My biggest issue was that it took me so long to finally give it a chance. It's mind boggling how many horror fiction writers were influenced by this man. Whether he is a genius that borders on lunacy or a lunatic who is a bona-fide genius, HP Lovecraft is an absolute treasure and his contribution to literary excellence, in my opinion, is second to none.
