Acerca de esta escucha
Artificial intelligence is only partially visible, just like an iceberg. To understand it fully, we must look beneath the surface. The positive side is that technology is making machines smarter. However, the deeper view explained in this book shows that AI is also making a growing number of people cognitively and psychologically dependent on digital networks.
Whether you are a social media fanatic, a diehard AI aficionado or a paranoid sceptic, it is impossible to escape the ubiquitous impact of AI. Artificial intelligence is the brains bringing together quantum computing, nanotechnology, medical technology, brain-machine interface, robotics, aerospace, 5G, Internet of Things, and more. It is amplifying human ingenuity and disrupting the foundations of health care, military, entertainment, education, marketing and manufacturing.
Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Power argues that this AI-driven revolution will have an unequal impact on different segments of humanity. There will be new winners and losers, new haves and have-nots, resulting in an unprecedented concentration of wealth and power.
After analyzing society's vulnerabilities to the impending tsunami, the book raises troubling questions that provoke immediate debate: is the world headed towards digital colonization by the USA and China? Will depopulation become eventually unavoidable?
Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Power is a wakeup call to action, compelling public intellectuals to be better informed and more engaged. It educates the social segments most at risk and wants them to demand a seat at the table where policies on artificial intelligence are being formulated.

Snakes in the Ganga unveils uncomfortable truths concerning India's vulnerabilities: Intense warfare against India's integrity is the work of a well-orchestrated global machinery driven by a new ideology. Marxism has been reincarnated as critical race theory in US academia and serves as the framework to address America's racism. This has been recklessly mapped on to India: Caste is equated with race. Marginalized communities of India are considered as Blacks and Brahmins as the Whites of India. Groups claiming grievances (like Muslims and LGBTQ+) are artificially clubbed together.

As AI and robotics eliminate jobs across the spectrum, governmental revenues will plummet while the debt increases dramatically. This crisis of limited resources on all levels - underfunded or nonexistent pensions, health problems, lack of savings, and job destruction without comparable job creation - will drive many into homelessness and produce a dramatic rise in violence as we fight over shrinking resources.

Rather, it offers a deeply reasoned and evocative examination of the contests over the next chapter of capitalism that will decide the meaning of information civilization in the 21st century. The stark issue at hand is whether we will be the masters of information and machines or its slaves.

Within our lifetimes, AI will, by design, begin to behave unpredictably, thinking and acting in ways which defy human logic. The big nine corporations may be inadvertently building and enabling vast arrays of intelligent systems that don't share our motivations, desires, or hopes for the future of humanity.

Throughout history, technological change — whether it takes the form of agricultural improvements in the Middle Ages, the Industrial Revolution, or today’s artificial intelligence — has been viewed as a main driver of prosperity, working in the public interest. The reality, though, is that technology is shaped by what powerful people want and believe, generating riches, social respect, cultural prominence, and further political voice for those already powerful. For most of the rest of us, there is the illusion of progress.

But the fourth industrial revolution is just beginning, says Schwab. And at a time of such tremendous uncertainty and such rapid change, he argues it's our actions as individuals and leaders that will determine the trajectory our future will take.

Eye opening
This book the problem, facing the world, and India, in particular, with the rise of artificial intelligence, that we can expect to see in as short as the next two years. Wild, the narration was clunky at times, it more than gets the job done and even does an okay job at reading out the tables presented in the book. Rajiv Malhotra is absolutely an intellectual giant and I cannot recommend this audiobook and the actual book itself as well, enough.
