I almost regret starting the series because it ends on a cliffhanger! So glad I found it. All the love and steamy parts…. Sigh. Can’t wait for the next book!

New Narrators......again

This is the third book in this section of the series (Season of the Vampire) but it is actually the 6th book in the REAL and overarching series (Fae Guardians). I had a feeling that I might have a problem with the Shade/Silver story, just from the blurb. What little we have been told or shown regarding Shade, it hasn't been too flattering. He was a vampire that came across as quite arrogant - in the cadre of 12, that's saying something - and he wasn't too keen on the whole "well blessed mate" thing. But, I was surprised when I started reading/listening to it that I ended up liking Shade fairly quickly and the person that I really had a problem with was Silver.

Not to beat a dead horse, but AGAIN we had two new narrators for this series. So far in 6 books, there has not been ONE narrator who has continued on with the series or has even read two different books - neither male or female. Each time a new book comes out, there is a brand new set of narrators and this book had the narration duo of Simone Lewis and Logan McAllister. The lack of continuity is becoming extremely annoying. Especially since this time the narration really bothered me. Specifically the male narrator - his narration came across as grating and choppy. I've mentioned this in the past, but I think this was the one time when the audio played a key part in my overall feeling about the book.

Being the last book in the Vampire section, we already had an idea of what to expect since we have watched the other two Vampire's find their mates. This time though, we got an entirely new perspective from Silver, who has spent her 6 years in the Human city, and cannot fathom the idea of having to give up metal - and is that really necessary? She also seems harder and more stubborn - though the woman in this series have all been strong willed (which is a definite character strength) but not helpful in the whole "meet and fall in love" dance. I thought it was funny because I was personally a little bit annoyed with Silver and her attitude and then when something happens (no spoilers) that puts Silver in a difficult position, I ended up being upset that certain people treated her a certain way. Weird, I know. Pick a side and stick with it......:)

So this completed the smaller story arc, but we are still way in the middle of the series story arc which is the possible war between the Humans and the Fae, and the manipulation that is occurring with Nero and now Rory.

Things have been set in motion, someone is kidnapped and it looks like there is going to be some massive drama coming up. It looks like the Elves are next.

Good story, MMC speaks with a lisp

How do you have a narrator with a lisp? He’s supposed to be the best looking one of the 12 and women throwing themselves at him and all I can envision is that dude from A Princess Bride that is short and bald except above his ears. He literally is like… you’re tho thexy Thilver…talk about killling the vibe. The series is great and I’ve loved the characters and narrators except this one.

Absolutely love this series! Cannot wait for it to continue…there is so much to be said about a strong man and woman loving each other!

great fantasy with strong romantic elements

I'm enjoying this series; I find some fantasies difficult to follow on audiobook because the characters have multiple names or the character speaking is not named. these seem to be made for audio!

I love how loneliness and heartbreak is what drives many characters to do their evil deeds, whether from family, community, or lovers. it means love and acceptance can win them back to the good side, and that's the heart of romance to me.

yet again, one narrator performs entire chapters instead of both , which makes for disjointed characters from one chapter to the next. I almost prefer a single performer throughout even if they can't do some characters convincingly because at least they can be consistent. Lewis did a great job! McAllister was a bit pedantic and his emotions didn't always match the scene. He seemed nearly Shakespearian in his delivery.

I was looking forward to the spice in this book.. it was not there. Especially for a kink Dom ML. There was like 1 spank scene multiple threats that never happened.. just felt very rushed, and very little content. Every story so far seems the same. very disappointing 😞
