This is a must listen!

If you like suspense, mystery and unexpected turns, this book is for you! I enjoyed the split story line of the book and enjoyed the break in between each segment. You learned a little more each chapter, be it historical events, or details from the current events in the books. Merging all you learn from the past and present made me try to figure out the ending ahead of time. Right when I think i have nailed it down, some other detail would derail my whole thought process. Made it very easy to want to keep going. All the characters are very well developed and easy to like, or dislike in some situations. The narrator was wonder! Easy to listen too but was able to have a distinct style for each character in my opinion.

A book so nice, I've read it twice!

This suspenseful story was so great the first time (I read a hardcover.) that when I saw it go on audio I knew I had to snag it for my Audible Library! First time readers will love the interwoven complex characters and a twist that we ALL love to read from this genre. Gluhm is a master of her craft and I can't wait for more!

Quite a few bends in this river!

The story kept me guessing until the last chapters. The narrator was a little too "breathe-y" but it was tolerable. Definitely worth listening to.

Excellent story!

Shanessa Gluhm has done it again. This novel, with its finely-drawn characters and unique views of the human condition, was a joy to listen to. There's mystery, betrayal, revenge, love, and the clear understanding that the bond between siblings and parents isn't always easy to understand. Shanessa grabbed this reader on page one and never let go, and Lu Banks' narration was perfection. I love it when the story makes me say, "I never saw that coming!" And Shanessa did that more than once. Well done!!!

I got through it

Wasn’t. Crazy about narration. To sweet voice for Sloan. Also severe naivety on her part. The dad was super typical of an entitled man. Hated hearing him too.

I couldn’t enjoy the book…

The narrator drove me nuts! The drawling out of the words was awful. I can’t listen to the authors other book if this person is going to narrate.

TERRIBLE narration

The narrator ruins this book. She’s so breathy and sounds like she’s whispering the whole thing.
