Not a favorite of mine

This was not a book that I couldn’t wait to get back to but it was jus ok for me

Too easy to figure out all red herrings

Cleve’s followers like me may just have an advantage. As soon as Ramse found Patrick’s poem I knew it was about his step mom. Once introduced I knew he’d be involved in murder. My biggest problem was understanding narrator—I never could tell who he was talking about. Speech too fuzzy. Almost as if he had a lisp

Not Ann Cleaves Best Work

I love Ann Cleaves books, but this simply wasn’t her best. Well read, and definitely enjoyable, but not in the category of Shetland or Vera.

Enjoyable Listen

Detective Ramsey wasn’t a particularly likable character when I first started listening to these books but he’s definitely grown on me. I thought this one was interesting and it definitely kept me guessing about the murderer until near the end. Definitely recommend to anyone who is a fan of this author

While the book was okay, it was not up to Ann Cleeves usual intriguing, thought provoking writing. I still remain a fan!
