NO MORE AI NARRATION!!
Revisado: 09-05-24
Why am I paying a membership fee if more and more narration jobs are going to AI??? I know this book was free to me because I pay a membership, but that's exactly why I pay a membership - to avoid stuff like this!! First off, AI narration is horrid. Hands down, full stop. Secondly, there is little to no inflection in the voice, no emotion, and sounds like a computer a lot of the time. I'm only 25% into the story, if that, and I had to go back and read the description to remind myself why I chose this audio book. Not sure I can finish it at this rate. (please read this review in a monotone robotic voice, because that's what the narration sounds like ✌)

This is what a TRUE PATRIOT sounds like!
Revisado: 11-10-23
My guess for the 1-star ratings is that they feel slighted that Cassidy had the moral and ethical strength to break from the cult of the Trump world and put country above party. There is absolutely no reason to give this book anything less than 3 stars (although I would argue that as well), but to each his own. We are all unique individuals and free speech is our right. That said, Cassidy shows she is poised, polished, articulate, level-headed, and smart as a whip (see what I did there?). We need more people like her in politics to stand up and do what's right for this country. She knows right from wrong and it took major guts to do what she did.
I found this book extremely hard to put down (or stop listening to) for the compelling nature of it from start to finish. I feel energized and hopeful that our great nation isn't plummeting into chaos and anarchy like it seemed to be only a few short years ago. I might disagree with her politically, but I would follow her anywhere. She is to be trusted. What a stand-up human she is. Bravo Cassidy! I hope you never have to go through anything like that ever again. Thank you for telling your story.

Historia
At first, Ken Abraham wrote off his mother’s changes in behavior as quirks that just come with old age. There was memory loss, physical decline, hygiene issues, paranoia, and uncharacteristic attitudes. He soon realized that dementia had changed her life - and his family’s - forever. According to the Alzheimer’s Association, an estimated 5.4 million Americans of all ages have Alzheimer’s disease. That’s one in eight older Americans. More than likely, that figure includes someone you know and love.

heartwrenching but eye-opening
Revisado: 10-05-23
a tragically beautiful story that some are tasked with living through. I am not at this point with my mother...yet, but listening to this made me realize where I am, what I need to look out for, and the possible steps I may one day need to take. I hope I don't have to encounter any of this first-hand, but I am so grateful for the shared experience as it was enlightening and eye-opening. we should talk about this more as a society.

Historia
Two days before Christmas 1996, the broken, battered body of Sophie Toscan du Plantier was found outside her vacation home in West Cork, a serene region on Ireland’s idyllic southern coast. Decades later, no one has been charged with the murder, but the aggrieved inhabitants of West Cork are convinced they know who did it - and he still lives among them.

will likely listen to this again and again
Revisado: 08-09-20
I came for the accents but stayed for the story. And what a story it is! After having visited Ireland and falling in love with just about every aspect of it, I was yearning to listen to something exactly like this. This murder mystery investigation has everything I wanted: murder, mystery, detectives, suspects, full moons and werewolves (yes, really), and best of all, a literal tour of Ireland. I will need to listen to this again (just as I love rewatching films of the same genre) because I know there are details I missed the first time around. I thought this was well done with the interviews and story-telling. I'm sure a more critical ear/eye could rip it apart, but why? It was very intriguing to listen to and I might start looking to support Ian Bailey's side of things. If you listen to this, you're in for a real treat! Enjoy.
