Listened 4 times to see if it grew
Revisado: 12-30-24
My overall: it's the best one I've discovered yet, but that doesn't say much. On the upnote, the male experience read well.
The author needed an editor to have him twerk certain parts. For example: The female dialogue.
The female version was reminiscent of 1980's horror. Remember: The clueless female runs around like an idiot and the villain always tries to rape and kill her. Don't forget to make her naked (or illude to it) at least once (eyeroll). I just threw up in my mouth.
The second read through, I skipped her experience and it read much better. It was a far better read/ listen.
The narrator needed someone to do the female parts. The female lines were painful to hear. The narrator did not pull it off. He did the elderly male and male parts well.

Just couldn't connect...like "Scrappy-doo"
Revisado: 02-01-23
Was hoping for more "awe" and "survival" scenario. This could've went "BIG"! Instead, I felt like I was handed an annoying child. Its the Scrappy-doo to the Scooby-Doo cartoon.
I hope the author revisits the set up and writes a different book. Read "Hachet". Take your characters from that point.

One of my "Comfy favorites"
Revisado: 02-01-23
In an uncertain world, who doesn't want to feel safe? A life spared and protected.
I felt comfy from the beginning.
Then the discovery and adventure began. The character still made me feel comfy because she was a problem solver and had a friend who shared her passion for truth, and determination to save them all. I felt rescued without leaving my PJs.

Hits many of the check marks for a good read. Would've liked more time with the "Awe and Discovery" phase and maybe more time with character relationships development. Those who like a fasted paced action series will LOVE this.

One of My daughters favorite series
Revisado: 02-01-23
Its a good teen series. I read it for My daughter. Sharing similar books gives a parent a platform to speak on something in the child's life.
Im not the intended audience. Although I found the series entertaining, it couldn't bridge the age gap.

How could "Hunger Games" get any better?
Revisado: 02-01-23
Amazing book!
I didn't think it was possible to outdo "Hunger Games", but then it happened. This author knows what real love is and how to define it within her characters. Its survival, ingenuity, will and luck. Its not having the answers but sacrificing one's self for hope and a better future. Dare I say, a chance for love to live.

Historia
Katniss Everdeen, girl on fire, has survived, even though her home has been destroyed. Peeta has been captured by the Capitol. District 13 really does exist. There are rebels. There are new leaders. A revolution is unfolding. It is by design that Katniss was rescued from the arena in the cruel and haunting Quarter Quell, and it is by design that she has long been part of the revolution without knowing it. District 13 has come out of the shadows and is plotting to overthrow the Capitol. Everyone, it seems, has had a hand in the carefully laid plans - except Katniss.
