Acerca de esta escucha

I abided by one rule, and one rule only...

Show no mercy. Not to anyone. Not even my closest friends.

So, when I was tasked with hunting Emma down and taking her life, it was just another day on the job. I couldn't have been more wrong. She's not like the others. She tangles with me without fear of the devil she might discover.

Now, I find myself willing to challenge my darkest demons, or worse, unleash them—all for her. There's just one problem...

I don't know if either of us will make it out alive.

Killing Emma is a dark captive romance with an HEA. This is a standalone but includes characters from No Control: A Dark Romance. For mature listeners. A complete list of content warnings can be found on the author's website.

This was not the best or worst story

It didn’t keep my interest much, pretty predictable and I personally hate cliff hangers for endings.

Lost Interest

This one started out really strong for me, but about halfway through I started to lose interest. The underworld part of the story didn't make sense to me. But I really liked the writing, the level and range of emotions were great. And the "who done it" bit kind of surprised me.

“This is the weirdest situationship.”

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 🖤💙❤️💜
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌍
Character development: ☹️😮😋😄
Narrator(s): 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration type: Dual Narration

The Hero: Luca - he is a contract killer who got a job to kill a woman named Emma Nightengale. The kill order was on hold for a while, but now he is given the go-ahead to do the job. He is attracted to Emma from the start. Some killers don’t take on jobs where the target is a woman, but Luca has no such rule. He gets his jobs from the dark web, and he has a partner, Manny who does the finds the background information on his targets and cleans up after the kill. His mentor was his father and though he feels nothing about killing, the death of his father affected him greatly, because he thinks it was his fault.

The heroine: Emma - she was friends with Lydia from No Control, and is married to Jared, though they don’t always get along. He is often controlling and starts fights with her for no good reason. Emma is wealthy, having millions that were inherited from her family. Jared is an accountant. She is a writer, who is unpublished as of yet.

The Story: We met both Emma and Luca in No Control and we saw that Emma had finally had enough of her husband and was ready to kick him to the curb. It isn’t a huge stretch to think that it might be Jared that hired Luca. Though in this book we see Luca trying to get back together with Emma after she caught him cheating with his secretary after ten years of marriage. She had three miscarriages and failed IVF treatments during the ten years and is fed up with him. Luca, on the other hand is even crazier and more bloodthirsty than Henry, from the first book.

This was an odd one and has some huge triggers. Luca is in the process of Killing Emma when things start to turn sexual. Like that would really happen. Though the fact that she tried it gets Luca intrigued about her, so he decides to take her hostage rather than kill her right away. This book was different than the first in that they have Ivan, who is Manny’s father, who they are afraid will get upset if Luca doesn’t kill Emma. I didn’t like Manny in this book either, he was a jerk. In the first book, Henry had Jude who was a very likable character.

This audiobook was told in dual points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Oliver Clarke and Devon Grace. I like both of these narrators. Oliver Clarke has a deep sexy voice that is perfect for an unhinged assassin like Luca. Devon Grace has a soft feminine voice and is very natural sounding. I really enjoyed the narration in this one. Though the story in this one goes to some crazy places and I didn’t like some of the scenes.
